I sent mine in a couple of weeks after my campaign finished. As well as the manuscript, you also need to complete a questionnaire, get an author photo and a couple of other things I can’t recall off the top of my head. This all needs to be sent in at the same time.  They’ll send you an email outlining exactly what you need to do. The Inkshares folk are working hard right now, so this won’t necessarily happen immediately after your campaign finishes.

Great, thanks @Peter Ryan@A.C. Weston. So no deadline to get the ms in, but what is the quickest you can send it in? Right away? Or something else needs to happen after the end of your campaign before you send in your copy? My ms will probably will be ready a week or three after my funding ends. If that’s the first thing they need from me and they can take it right away, it seems like there is no drawback to extending my campaign so that I’ll be all set to send it in right after it ends. Am I missing anything?

I submitted my manuscript in May. At this stage November looks like the best guess for book release. As @A.C. Weston mentioned, things are in a state of flux right now.

And, yes, you just get the copy edit with Quill so you need to make sure your book is as good as it can be when you submit it.

You don’t have to have your manuscript done when your campaign is over; they don’t set a deadline for when they need it, either. It is totally open-ended.

The initial estimate for how long between turning in your manuscript and your book release was 4 months, but a lot of things have been in flux and that number might not be what ends up happening for many of us. I guess we’ll see as more Quill books come out!

I realize that I could have just emailed this, but thought others might benefit from the answer--or that published Quill authors might chime in. My funding campaign is over in a few weeks and while I still have hope that I could reach 750, it seems very possible that I’ll end just short of that target and join Quill. My question is what is the timeline for Quill? My understanding is that there is not a developmental edit, only a copy edit. So, will Quill ask me for my final draft as soon as my campaign ends, or is there a step in between?  Should I aim to have the final draft ready when the campaign ends?
