Dear Kingdom of Dream followers,

Well, my standing on the sidelines is over. Kingdom of Dreams has been entered in the Geek & Sundry Fantasy contest! (Thank you, Inkshares.)

I have stiff competition, so I’ll need every order possible. You can purchase from one to ten copies of any tier. (Now’s the time to use those $5 coupons for signing up if you haven’t already!) Never fear, I will give back to you as well for each pledge of support. I have lots to offer: everything from magnets and homemade dog biscuits to original artwork. All proceeds will be used to fund my ultimate goal of printing a version of my story that will represent each major ethnicity. Here’s the quick idea sketch that can become reality:

Please check out my newly refreshed project page and order here: https://www.inkshares.com/books/kingdom-of-dreams

Thanks for your support and reach out with any questions. Francis will also keep you updated when relevant.

Thanks again!

Happy Friday!

Well, please forgive me folks as it’s been awhile since my last confession/update.

The writer/artiste and I are in full on summer "hibernation" mode, hiding out inside and basking in the cold AC, because it’s blazing hot outside in Austin, Texas. A good time to work indoors. And so we did! A portion of the trailer has been filmed. Here’s me in between takes as they couldn’t afford a proper trailer for my dressing/recovery room:And yes, I wasn’t quite ready for this picture to be taken. (I never am.)

Even I’m excited about the other portion of the trailer that doesn’t involve me, as the writer/artiste has been talking to a professional creature artist. If they can pull off a proper rendition of Dromon the Night Terror (hint, read the prologue if you haven’t yet seen that hideous monster) it will be as the kids say, epic. And if they don’t, comedy gold!

Meanwhile, we are looking at an Autumn launch for the pre-sale of Kingdom of Dreams. Hopefully another contest or two will come along, but otherwise we do have some aces up our fur. Okay, so that sounds disgusting. At any rate, stay tuned as we button this puppy up!

Purr on,

Francis

Happy Weekend Everyone,

As if I didn’t have enough to do, I Francis the cat-yes that Francis from Kingdom of Dreams-will be hosting my master/task master/big bully’s shiny new sometimes weekly newsletter. Never fear, I’m not one for incessant updates that irritate more than inform. Speaking of irritating, I’d rather hack up a hundred fur balls than have to listen to the relentless barking beast that resides in the yard behind me. The cacophonous mutt has to go, but that’s another story.

Kingdom of Dreams has 51 followers! The writer/artiste would like to thank everyone for their early support. Me too. Who knows, perhaps he’ll reward me with a new laser pointer if I can drum up another 25 supporters? I can’t resist chasing that blasted red dot around despite how ridiculous and humiliated it makes me look and feel. Quickly moving on...

Unbeknownst to the writer/artiste, I will be using this newsletter to discuss guarded spoilers, delve neck-deep into characters, and reveal glimpses of new illustrations. I will also run contests to give away interesting items such as: some original KOD artwork and related shwag, a fresh batch of the dog’s homemade biscuits (yes, really)--perhaps even the family car keys if the mood fits. I will also recommend other projects that catch my eye on this wonderful site. Of course, who cares what we think? Please let us know what you would like to know and I’ll happily spill the beans.

Ah, yes. There is mention of a trailer.Okay, so not that trailer.

You heard it here first: after a few screen tests baited by the promise of catnip that never did materialize, I will serve as the star and narrator of the book’s trailer. I narrowly beat out a controversial half-crazed war-horse, an overfed, bump on a log dog, and a feral night terror. Ooh. Lucky me.

Until next time, stay well and happy reading. I look forward to our next chat, hopefully you will as well!

You’re welcome to follow and tweet me at your own risk here:

Happy Friday! Like many Inksharians (is that what we’re called?), I’m scattered, smothered, and covered kinds of busy with my day job and helping out with my soon to be one year old son.

But I have had requests to put more chapters up, and... the dude abides! I have the Prologue and Chapters 1-5 up and available for your reading pleasure. Feel free to comment as you will. Thanks again for everyone’s early support! In turn, I’m going to try to peruse and recommend other drafts, etc. this weekend.

Just launched this sucker today! It’s been my dream for a long while to be what the kids are calling these days a hybrid: both writer and illustrator.

I took the term hybrid graphic novel from some blogs I read by New York agents describing books like mine.

Please let me know your initial thoughts... Thanks and let me know how I can support you!

Best,

Kevin
