Argh! And why don’t they let you put email addresses in here? Let’s try it again: scaughie5 at gmail dot com. Got it? Otherwise, it’s at the top of my product description...

I was thinking of doing a giveaway, but I’m still enough confused by the working of this website to know how to publicize it. How would I get it out there for all and sundry to see? If it’s complicated, you can email me about it at scaughie5

We are sitting pretty at 173 orders for Deus Hex Machina, which I am super happy about. But with well over 500 orders to go for full publication, it’s time to get creative.

As of today I am ending my current raffles.  What, no more cool prizes for supporting DHM? Nah, you didn’t think I’d leave you hanging, did you?

Instead of raffling off copies of Shadow of the Owl, I’ve decided to instead focus on incentivizing referrals.  I think it would be awesome if we could find a couple of very outgoing people to become the DHM Official Street Team (or Machina Crew if you prefer) and help this book get to 750.

How does it work? Well, simply put, you refer people to DHM, and the more people that order the book using your referral code, the more prizes you earn.

At 10 referrals, you’ll get a $25 gift card to Amazon.

At 20 referrals you’ll earn a Deus Hex Machina tee shirt.

At 50 referrals you’ll earn your very own Church of Technology pendant.

And if the book manages to reach 750 orders, I will give away a huge prize package to the Street Team member with the most orders over 50. In this I want to share with you all the great media that inspired DHM, so I’m giving away not only a copy of DHM, but also copies of Blade Runner and AKIRA on Blu Ray, a copy of Deus Ex Human Revolution, and a paperback copies of Neuromancer and The Name of the Rose. It’s a prize package totally $200.00 worth of awesome, and it can all be yours!

Street Team F.A.Q.:

1. How do I participate in the DHM Street Team?
It’s easy, just grab your referral link to the book from the Deus Hex Machina main page, and start sharing it with your friends.

2. Who is eligible?
Anyone who has an Inkshares account can be part of the street team. You have to refer orders through your referral link in order for them to count towards this promotion.

3. Can International readers join in?
I am happy to ship internationally for prizes, you just have to have a physical address I can send to.

3. How long will the Street Team last?
This promotion will run until June 18th or until we reach 750 orders, whichever comes first.

So who wants to join my crew?

I have 170 orders and 107 days left to get fully funded. Sorry to be a number nerd but that makes me smile.

That is all.

Have a great day!

We hit 170 orders, so it’s raffle time!

Congrats to....

Janna Grace! You’ve won a signed copy of Shadow of the Owl!

Thank you to everyone who is supporting DHM.  Let’s see if we can get to #DHM750. I am percolating some ideas, and I’d love to hear yours if you have any.

Have a great Tuesday!

This is the day that I always think of one thing...Pirates of Penzance. In that amazing Gilbert & Sullivan play the main character Frederic is released from his apprenticeship to a band of pirates on his 21st birthday, only to later learn that he was born on February 29th, and so, technically is only five years old. Yes, I have strange cultural connections to Leap Year, but that’s where my mind goes.

I’m going to be sending off my raffle prizes today.  I’m thinking of slipping in some postcards with the old cover art on them as little extras. I dunno.  I would like to ask a favor of those that receive their copies. Please consider writing an honest review of Shadow of the Owl once you read it. If Fantasy is not your thing (and I totally understand that), don’t worry about it. There is no requirement to review, it’s just that reviews really help a book get seen.

Deus Hex Machina is plugging along. Isidore RAM has encountered quite a change in circumstances (this is how I describe her situation without getting into spoiler territory.), and she’s about to learn that there is more going on than she ever dreamed.  As I start chapter three I get to build combat systems for the machina, and I have to tell you, I’m a little hung up there. Once I push past this little bit of world building though, I should be good to get chapter three written.

I have two more scenes before I officially enter territory that is beyond the original script. In some ways that’s a good thing, because the old graphic novel script has a good deal of content that’s already changed.

I have a question for you all: I am at 167 orders right now. That’s 583 from full publishing, and 83 from Quill. My orders have pretty much stopped, but I have a good amount of people that are following the novel.  For those that haven’t won a raffle yet, would you prefer DHM swag to copies of my first book? Would a tshirt or a mug or something be more attractive?

Head on over to my Facebook page and weigh in. I am trying to plan out my final push to Quill and how I might be able to break through in the next 100 days toward the full publication. Any suggestions you might have are always welcome.

Wow, that was a lot more than I expected. Sorry for the rambling.

May the code replicate eternal.

 Hi guys!

Not much news around here, but I still wanted to touch base.  I signed all the books for my giveaways thus far, and will be sending those out later in the week (we’ve got some rain coming in, so a trip to the post office with a huge pile of books to mail is not in the cards. I don’t want your prizes getting wet.)

We hit 165 orders today, which sounds so surreal when I type it out.  Dozens of people are eager to read this book, and it humbles me. I just want to take a moment to thank you all for your support. DHM was put up on Inkshares as an experiment, to see if there was interest in an odd little project like it.

I just started writing chapter three, and hope to have it finished by the end of the week if I can’t keep my own worst critic (my internal voice) locked in a closet somewhere. If you have read chapter two, then you know Isidore has had some surprises recently. I am happy to say that they won’t stop any time soon.  But enough about me.

Congrats to Andre Brun, whose novel Lies and Deception just funded! If you haven’t ordered your copy, now you can, safe in the knowledge that the book will be published through the Quill imprint here at Inkshares.

Peter Birdsall’s Feyside is inches away from funding as well. Please order a copy and help this amazing steampunk fairytale come to life.

Lastly, Byron Gillian’s Children of the Forest is in its last week of funding. He needs 42 copies to hit his funding goal. Order this book today so we don’t all miss out on reading it!

Thanks! The video took about a day. Normally my book trailers don’t take that long to make, but this one is a bit special.

I love your guys’s video. How long did that take to cut together?

Chapter Two is live!  I’m so happy to introduce you to Dax and his crew. I can’t wait to hear what you think.

I also have two raffle winners to announce:  The winner of my 150 order raffle is John Dennehy! The winner of my 160 order raffle is Stefarelli!  Congrats to you both!

As you can tell I’m a little tapped out from writing this morning. I’m going to rest my head a bit after I email the raffle winners.

The next raffle for a signed copy of Shadow of the Owl will be at 170 orders.

Have a wonderful day!
