Hey guys!
It is with a very heavy heart that I write today’s Reader Update. As I’m sure many/most of you have seen, the worst mass shooting in US History took place in the early hours of today at Pulse, an LGBT nightclub, in Orlando, FL.
Orlando holds a huge chunk of my heart. It’s where I lived for six years, where I return several times a year, and the inspiration and setting of Welcome to Deadland. Orlando is still home to me. And as a member of the LGBT community, this attack has hit me to the core. I’ve been lucky enough to contact a vast majority of friends and people I consider family, and have confirmed their safety. This is something many friends and family inside and out of Orlando will not be able to say.
Many of my readers are still living in and around Orlando. If you can, I urge you to find a nearby location to donate blood. It could save another life. If you can’t, a page has been set up to monetarily donate support to the victims of this hate-filled tragedy. I will also be donating 100% of my royalties from the upcoming week to help those that need it far more than I do.
With love,
Zac
Hello Readers!
This is a really exciting time for both Welcome to Deadland and me! The book is in the final stages of approval (full dust jacket, internal design, eBook layout) before being sent to the printer in less than a week! I know it seems like ages ago since many of you backed Welcome to Deadland, and I want to thank you all for your patience as we’ve been working hard to get everything in place. The wait is almost over!
Some of you might have seen Inkshares’s recent tweet with a link to their properties page. The purpose of this page is to allow for book properties to be tracked so producers/publishers/etc. can see what options are still available for purchase. This can range from foreign language rights, to film/tv rights, comic book adaptations and more. Even if you’re not someone in the market looking to acquire book rights, it’s a great way to see what other formats you can expect to see your favorite Inkshares books become available in. If you click on the link above you’ll even see Welcome to Deadland listed along with other books, and a neat surprise!
The audiobook rights have been sold to Audible! That’s right, in the near future not only will you be able to read Welcome to Deadland, but you’ll also be able to listen to it in the car, while working out, walking down the street or anywhere else!
Thank you all so much for your interest in support,
-Zac
Whoops, when I sent that update I messed up with embedding the video! Trying this again.
If that still didn’t work, it can be viewed here on YouTube, and is also on Welcome to Deadland’s Inkshares page.
Sorry about that!

I’m not Beyoncé, but I’m here with a surprise video drop!

One of my friends had to create a documentary for a school project, and asked if I would be willing to discuss Welcome to Deadland. I cover my inspiration for the book, my experience working with Inkshares and Nerdist, where we’re at right now in the process, and how I reached potential readers during my campaign!
Speaking of where we are in the process, we’ve reviewed the first design of the full dust jacket and I’ve submitted my final notes on the proofreader’s review! The first galley has arrived at Inkshares HQ, and soon the final product will be sent off to the printer!
I’ve also updated the prologue and chapter one on Welcome to Deadland’s Inkshares page. I replaced my initial drafts of the chapters with the final edited pages.
Thank you all for your support!

Hey everyone!
I figured it was time for a #tbt that highlights the inspiration for Welcome to Deadland!
In honor of the Grand Opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Hollywood, here’s an image from the morning of the Grand Opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Orlando (or the OG Wizarding World) in which I teach Al Roker about Screaming Yo-Yos
I tried to find the actual clip, but apparently the internet doesn’t last forever. The years I spent working here ignited the spark in my mind that evolved into Deadland, and goes to show the power that one (or seven) books can have in the world.
In Welcome to Deadland news, I have submitted my approval of the copy edits back to Girl Friday Productions and received a preview of the "pour," or what the pages of the book will look like in print. Not too much longer before the manuscript is sent to the printer!
There’s a new contest taking place right now! I encourage everyone to go check it out by entering or supporting authors currently campaigning for an amazing opportunity. And feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!
Thank you all for your support!

Good morning, backers!
I hope everyone had a great holiday week, and if you’re not American, I just hope you had a great weekend in general. For those of you that backed Welcome to Deadland during the campaign, I have some exciting news to help you get through the rest of the week.
The eBook files will be available to download in PDF, mobi, and ePub formats on Friday, July 8th! If you have an eReader you’ll be able to start reading Welcome to Deadland a month and a day before the official release!
It’s been a long road, and I thank everyone for their patience, but there’s only a few more days to go!
And just as a reminder, make sure you have your current shipping address listed so your physical copies can be mailed out!
Thank you all,
Zac
