I’m here to give you a brief update on the status of Red Circle. Before diving in I’d like to first thank everyone who has followed this book, left comments and reviews, and spent any time reading my work. I’ve only been on Inkshares for a couple of weeks but I’ve received a tremendous amount of feedback and support in that short amount of time.
Some of you have kindly been asking me for more of this book, and for those of you who are eager for additional chapters I have good news. I have 10 chapters completed, which is nearing the halfway point in the novel. I’ve outlined the remaining sections and I’m in the process of writing more. I’m also taking time this week to review and revise what I’ve already written to ensure it is in the best shape possible before sharing it with the Inkshares community.
To that end, I’ve just added revised versions of the first two chapters, and you can expect additional chapters in the next week or two.
Thank you again for your time and support and I look forward to hearing more about what you think of Red Circle!
This is terrific! Great use of language and evocative atmosphere. I was pulled into the tone pretty instantly. Looking forward to seeing where it goes from here. Nice work.
Hey, Matt, great start! You drew me into this world of Farrow Point and kept me reading to see what happens next.
Now if you are still in draft mode with the rest of the book, this isn’t something to worry about now, but when you get to revision stage and look to tighten the narrative and torque up the tension even more, one place to start will be with trimming character backstory/life story. Case in point: when Dean is slouched in his rocking chair in Chapter One. Also with Sarah and Harlow at the start of Chapter 2 before his radio crackles.
Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad you like the first chapter! I’m not 100% set on the title, but I will say Red Circle refers to many things throughout the novel, not just the imagery of the crimson spiral at the beginning. That will become more evident throughout the book, but I appreciate the comment.
I liked the first chapter, especially the opening dream sequence. And I’ll read second chapter soon! Quick question: why name the book Red Circle? I think Crimson Spiral sounds more intriguing, but that’s just me.
