I'm so intrigued by the excerpts of this novel. The strong writing and voice bring about a sense of grounding. Eager to see what's next!
The story of Cassidy, cam girl in modern-day SoCal; Paloma, Fulbright scholar in newly Westernized Prague; Jane, farm girl working at the FBI in DC during WWII. Each leaves Appalachia to find a new life, only to be pulled back to the land they know.
This novella is exquisite, a poignant tribute to our world today as well as its past and future. It's a meditation on the massive emptiness of space, and a powerful reminder that each of us is only a tiny speck in the vastness of the universe.
I loved this dark action story, set in a world built with precision and power. Faoii-Kaiya is a stalwart heroine, battling forces much greater than what she could possibly imagine, but she faces them bravely. You will be sucked into her world.
After her monastery is attacked and her sisters slaughtered, young Kaiya is left alone to fight back against a dark army and darker betrayal.
