This looks like a unique spin on the genre — so far Carlson writes as a faithful zompoc contemporary of Maberry, McKinney and even Max Brookes and David Wellington. I loved Xenogen and I want to read more!

I love the immediacy of this opening. Imagine reading Frankenstein but from the monster's POV right after he's created. It's an interesting examination of identity crisis.

Amazing narrative, a must read!
