Happy Sunday everybody,

I'm going to actually write a bit of an update today instead of just posting silly sock puppet videos. I wanted to take a moment and tell you guys about the Nerdist contest on Inkshares, why I entered it and where we are with the preorders. But it'll be quick, I promise.

The Nerdist contest on Inkshares is a contest for Fantasy or Science Fiction novels. Winners are determined by the unique number of readers who pre-order your book. That means, while I really, really, really appreciate some of you offering to buy more than one copy, it does not count towards the contest goal. In fact, if you buy a bunch of them it can actually disqualify me. So you have to talk other people into buying it. But you can do that, you're good enough, you're smart enough, and doggone it, people like you.

The top five books will be published by Inkshares whether they have reached their (1,000) pre-order goal or not. From the top five, Nerdist.com will pick their favorite book and they will publish it, distribute it, promote it and make sweet love to it down by the fire. I want Monkey Business to be that book. It's partially because I think fans of Nerdist stuff will enjoy it and partially because I myself am a huge fan of Nerdist and just want to be associated with them in any way possible. It's a dream come true kind of situation.

So that's the deal. The contest ends on September 30th. As I'm writing this update, they 5th place book has about 330 pre-orders. So I've got a long way to go. I'll be putting up some more chapters, maybe some pull quotes and some more videos. If any or all of you enjoy what you've read so far and want to help spread the word, I will be eternally grateful!
