Great opening, I'm already starting to feel the main character.  If the booze is going to be important to this guy (male protagonist?), Id like to know more about his choices.  Whisky in the car (maybe a cheap Irish whisky?) makes sense. The stuff in his car might be just whisky to him.  The drink he pours himself though, that deserves some attention.  The selection can tell us a lot about the setting. His choice can tell  us just as much about him.  "The bar was loaded, but he went with a familiar favourite, 18 year Glevlivet." Or something...
