Phase Three has a lyric and haunting tone which grabs the reader immediately even as the shadow of death hangs on the air. The writing supports and furthers the world the characters inhabit, almost becoming another character for the reader to see into the world. From the opening lulling the reader into the world to the ominous hints at future events, this work is definitely one of the greats.
