I have never forgiven Alan Alda for M*A*S*H's final episode. My television had stopped working 2 years before, and I got it repaired specifically to see the biggest finale ever promoted. There I sat watching with my 3-month old son in my arms. He's 32 now, and I still carry the psychological scar.
How much more deeply scarring Michael Melilli's truth must be. 3 Point 8 is heart-rending in just the first chapter. He promises supernatural forces to soften the blow, and I can only hope they have helped lessened his pain. A compelling subject in a well-written story.
