My lovely supporters,
With two days left, we’re still very much short of Quill, and I’ve been doing a decent amount of thinking.
Although I have more preorders than I have Twitter followers, which is a testament to the power of word of mouth if nothing else, there were a lot of things I ought to have done differently during the course of fundraising that I didn’t even think of six months ago. When I say this has been a learning experience, that’s no exaggeration.
Inkshares offered me the opportunity to expose a wide audience to my manuscript, which is amazing for a young unpublished writer without a preexisting reader base. People whose work I admire have read and lauded this weird little story and I have this strange newfound hope for the future, which believe it or not is more important than publication.
Which brings me to the conclusion of all that thinking:
I am not going to be asking for an extension on the campaign.
Those of you who’ve already placed preorders will always have a special place in my heart, but unless something ridiculous happens that enables me to sell another hundred preorders before then, you’ll be receiving refunds on Friday. Everyone who has offered emotional support or feedback, or plugged the project on Twitter or Bookface or wherever else I’ve seen referrals coming from, you are the real MVPs. Thank you, thank you.
I tried to find a "riding off into the sunset" gif, because Western, and Google gave me this. Cheers!
