Elizabeth A Gillis liked an update for Under The Rug

Hello, hello! I see that some of you/most of you have received your copies of Under The Rug. Brings a smile to my face, I tell ya. If you haven’t received it yet, you should be getting it soon. And thank you all again for your patience. I hope you enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed birthing it. Ouch!

Anyway, as you all know, Amazon reviews are huge, especially for new authors trying to break the market. I’ve had a couple 5 STAR’s come in so far and they are MEGA! So, thank you to those readers for taking the time, and I’m so glad you enjoyed the book.

For those of you who haven’t finished yet, or have not received your copies yet, I humbly ask that when you are finished reading Under The Rug, would you be so kind as to leave a review here: https://www.amazon.com/Under-Rug-Todd-Wonkka/dp/1947848852/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?keywords=under+the+rug%2C+a+novel+Todd+S.+Wonkka&qid=1573757458&sr=8-1-fkmr1

    Hello all,

First, thank you all for your patience. Writing, editing, and then finalizing a project that you care about takes a lot of work, and a lot of time. It’s important to bring justice to the project by being patient, which at times was difficult as I had all of you—my backers—on my mind. I can’t wait to get this novel into your hands. But, I took my time, worked it through thoroughly, hired a reputable editor, Caroline Tolley, and turned my early drafts of Under The Rug into something I’m very proud of. And, the process is now moving forward as I’ve just submitted my manuscript to Inkshares.

Now, Inkshares will still have their editors take a look at it. But because I’ve had a professional editor already work on this with me, the process will move much faster than normal. The next few things I will be submitting to the Inksahres team are things like book cover, layout, author bio, etc. Soon Inkshares will communicate to me a realistic date for the release of the book. Rest assured however, that you, my backers, will receive your copies before it hits the bookshelves. That’s it for now. Will let you know something when I know something.

Quick update on Under The Rug. We are into phase 2 of content and development editing. It’s looking good. After this round, we’ll go through a line edit(line by line, cadence, sentence structure, etc.), then it’s on to the copy edit(punctuation, grammar, etc.); that’s the final stage. Once again, thank you all for the love and support.

I have decided on an editor—Caroline Tolley. She came highly recommend from a writer I trust.

Caroline is a former in-house editor at Pocket Books–a division of Simon & Schuster, the premier New York City publisher of commercial and trade fiction–an outside editor for Harper Collins/Avon, and a reader for The Literary Guild and The Rhapsody Book Club. She has been editing popular fiction for 20 years and has 200+ novels under her belt, including three New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and USA Today best selling authors.

I’m honored to work with her and can’t wait to start the process. We get underway March 1st. Will get back to you soon.

Great News! Under The Rug is in first place in the "Spring 2017 Launch Pad Manuscript Competition on Inkshares". We’re now at 191 Readers and 240 pre-sales.

This is the second competition with The Launch Pad, the first of which ran last fall, with exclusive partners Ridley Scott of Scott-Free Productions and Brooklyn Weaver of Energy Entertainment. Eight books were green-lit for publication, along with TV and film that followed.

I am in first place because of YOU. Thank you all so much. Let us not relent, for there is still much work to be done in order to maintain that #1 position.

I humbly ask that you please get one friend to pre-order a book today...if you haven’t already. Once again, I’m grateful for your support.

            Thanks for reading!

            Todd Wonkka

You guys are never going to believe this! I’ve eradicated yet another F***! Yaaaay! I’m now dangerously skirting the lines of making this into a teen romance. Just fucking kidding.

Hello, hello! And thank you! You’ve helped bring my pre-order total to 135 in 11 days. Thank you all so very much.

So, I had an idea. Let me know what you think. If everyone of you can get just one of your friends to pre-order this "dangerously close to PG-13";-) debut novel from a passionate, budding scribbler, then we could double this motherfu—...I mean total in just one day. Pretty please. As always, I would be grateful.

              Sincerely,

              Todd

                Hi everyone,

So, it’s been an exciting trip so far. Once again, I want to thank you all for supporting me in my venture to become a published writer.

In the past seven days, I’ve felt a few different things, emotionally. I had no idea how nerve-racking putting yourself out there could be. But, it’s quite a blessing. It’s scary, but it challenges me. It’s made me look closer at my work; you’ve made me look closer.

I’ve received lots of feedback; some people love what I’ve written, some...meh. But to me, all feedback is positive. Thank you for taking the time to tell me what you think. I agree with most of the criticisms and decided to ease up on the harshness of the story. Part of me felt that it was so necessary to paint the characters a certain color—and I think I still have—but you, the readers, have really made me re-think and understand that I don’t need to say "Fuck" as much as I think ;-). That and a few other things. I was worried about taking away from the characters, but with my recent edits, I believe those characters, and the story, have gained something.

Look, I’m still new at this, and although I’m confident in my abilities, I am not perfect. And what I write isn’t going to impress everyone. I get that. But you deserve to be heard. You’ve invested your hard-earned money in me. That’s something that I don’t take lightly. I care about your experience.

You’ve all, already, made me a better writer. I’m grateful for your honesty and I hope that you’ll see improvement in some of the changes I’ve made. Now, the story is a harsh one, so it’s not going to be puppy dogs and ice cream, but I think I’ve made some small but important adjustments. And I would love to hear what your think.

                Thanks again,

                Todd
