Craig A. Munro liked an update for The Sleeping Man

Good Morning Dreamers,

Well, I"ve been exceptionally busy and I’m using all my free time to either do homework, study for the Navy school that’s almost finished, or nap. While I’m not doing these things, I’m squeezing in editing of The Sleeping Man. I’m about halfway through now, and after that, I’ll probably have some beat readers, so if anyone wants, let me know. Then it’s a final edit from me, a final edit from Inkshares, and then they will begin the production process. Thank you so much for your support, and make sure you keep spreading the word and having people pre-order The Sleeping Man. Since we’re still in the pre-order phase, half of everything up until the release will be donated to the Children’s Literary Initiative.

Sweet Dreams,

Stephen

    Hello Friends

Today you probably received an e-mail that looks like this

This means: YOU GET A BOOK, AND YOU GET A BOOK AND YOU GET A BOOK!!

I’m sure you are jumping just like Oprah’s audience. I know I am.

As the e-mail explain, if you still live in the same house you did when you ordered the book, there is nothing for you to do. Just sit tight and wait for your copy of The Catcher’s Trap to arrive in the mail, very soon.

Once again I want to thank you for your support. This is a dream come true and, I know it in my heart, just the beginning of many great things.
So what is next you wonder?

I’m taking my show on the road! I don’t have all the dates yet, but I will be speaking at several libraries in Connecticut and doing book signings, so far, in three bookstores. I won’t spill the beans on events without a confirmed date because I am extremely superstitious, but here are the dates that are set.

North Haven Barnes and Noble: Thursday, November 10, 6 PM

Hamden Public Library: Sunday, November 20, 2 PM

You can also hear me live at Horror Happens Radio on Tuesday, October 25, at 8:15 PM

The next step in this journey we are taking together is reviews. I need to get as many reviews as I can on Amazon and Goodreads in the next three weeks, so as soon as you get your copy, start reading away and then share your thoughts with the world.

    That’s it for now
    Have a wonderful weekend

So I know I’ve been saying how excited I am to have finally hit Quill and to know that my book will be in the hands of actual people sometime in the near future. But, honestly, I don’t think it hit me until today.

On the way home from work I had to pull over because I was suddenly, intensely aware of how much work it has taken to come this far. I saw every word I wrote, erased, re-wrote, re-erased, and re-re-wrote. Every character I sketched into notebooks and introduced to paper, as ready to tell their story as a child on the first day of school. I saw every excited key stroke as I experienced new events and people that screamed at me to make them real. I saw every moment of anticipation as I waited for my betas to respond. A thousand smiles when they praised something they liked or offered advice to make the story better. Every bit of terror as I wrote out queries, and more anticipation as I waited for a response. I re-experienced each and every time my heart dropped into my stomach at an agent’s rejection. And another. And another. The determined flits of my fingers as I turned each letter into a different origami animal to add to the ever-growing zoo. I felt that tiny spark of hope that glimmered when someone finally told me what was wrong with the original manuscript. Too long. Too long. The fevered dash to correct the issue-- erasing entire chapters, people, subplots. The tearful goodbyes as I deleted entire lives so that the others might have a fighting chance. The uncertainty of trying a less-than-traditional publisher. The soul-crushing doubt for each day I didn’t get a single pre-order. The amazement each time I did.

And it all brought me to... this. Laughing and sobbing on the side of the road, tears streaking my face even as my cheeks hurt from smiling. Amazed and relieved and humbled all at once.

      It’s indescribable. Thank you.

Good news. I finished the book.

Well, technically I reached the end of the book, which is still good, if a little less ’final’.

See? Chapter 32 is done. I wrote the end of the book.

For reference, the final words are: "Thank you." And don’t worry, that’s not a spoiler.

If anyone could guess who says it, to whom and the context, I wouldn’t be doing my job. Rest assured it’s a very satisfying thank you with some nice "Book 2" implications to boot.

I also wrote 1000 words in a single day (just) for the first time in what feels like months, which felt good. With November coming up, and NaNoWriMo with it, it’s promising that I’m getting back in a groove. I still haven’t decided if I’m participating, but we’ll see how it goes. I would like to get some work done on LandFall...

Goals for the next week: Finish chapter 23, get to work on chapter 26 and maybe even, y’know, finish the book.

          Good Morning Sweethearts!

I hope that you all are doing well and that you’re having a lovely Friday! The last two weeks since the book has launched has been such a dream. I have been so touched that so many of you have texted or emailed me pictures of the books as they arrived at your homes, sent me photos of your children with the books, and also have given me your feedback on "How to Get Run Over by a Truck" It has been so wonderful to hear from you, and I am incredibly grateful to you for sharing your experience with me!

A few really wonderful things have happened that I wanted to share with you! I have done a couple of interviews about the book, and about my experience that I wanted to share with you.

In this interview I spoke about the day of the accident, and what it is like to be aware of the fact that you might lose your life in this Arrvls Podcast entitled "40 Blinks"

I spoke with Brooklyn Paper Radio about being a cyclist in Brooklyn, about what happened to the Truck driver, and they also asked me some tough questions about Warren. It was awesome and overwhelming all at the same time!

I also spoke with my best friend Leah Bonvissuto on this Storycorp interview, where we talked about how important it is to use your voice and to tell your story. It was an incredible interview with one of my favorite people in the world!

There was also some buzz about the book recently, which was unexpected and amazing! Jaime King, the beautiful and talented actress sent out an Instagram picture of the books that she’s reading right now to her 1 million followers, and "How to Get Run Over by a Truck" was on the top of the pile! It was such a happy surprise!

Also, New York Magazine listed "How to Get Run Over by a Truck" as one of the 13 Books We’re Reading Right Now! Which is mind blowing, because #1 its an amazing magazine and #2 because New York Magazine is my favorite magazine of all time! I can’t even believe that this is all happening!

I want to share with you all a really touching thing that has happened just yesterday - my insanely talented friend Arian Saleh, composed a score for the book for his musical project entitled The Libretto Project. It is so beautiful that I can’t help but I weep every time I hear it. On his site are all of the books that he has created scores for, and they are stunning! I am so honored to be a part of that list!

So, that’s what’s been happening in my world sweethearts! Thank you for making all of this possible! I am so incredibly grateful for your love and support!

          Heart,

          Katie

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Human Resources

              We are underway!

              Oh boy! Oh Boy!

Earlier today you should have received the automated email from Inkshares letting you know the crowdfunding campaign has started for Human Resources!

If you missed my earlier announcement, this is as part of The Launchpad Manuscript competition, so I am up against the other 74 finalists. We have gotten off to a great start, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me — whether by following the project, writing a recommendation or review, pre-ordering a copy, or sharing the project on social media. The community has been amazing.

For those who haven’t observed or participated in an Inkshares competition, pre-orders can help me get published in one of two ways:

              1. My novel receives the most pre-orders during the competition.
              2. My novels receives at least 250 pre-orders total.

If you can afford to pre-order, it would be very helpful if you pre-ordered now, at the start of the campaign. To win this, I need to attract orders from outside my network. Getting a stack of early pre-orders will make that easier by those browsing the entrants there is interest in the book and building momentum.

Please go to Inkshares and Order Now

You can also help by spreading the word:

              • Share the novel page on facebook / twitter / etc.
              • Share the novel with friends in real life.
              • Leave a review or recommendation on the Inkshares site.

              But wait, there’s more!
The amazing Rex Smeal has produced some fantastic art for the cover of Human Resources. Check it out!

Thank you again for your support and interest in my novel. I hope you join me on this crazy crowdfunding ride to publication!
