You guys are never going to believe this! I’ve eradicated yet another F***! Yaaaay! I’m now dangerously skirting the lines of making this into a teen romance. Just fucking kidding.

Hello, hello! And thank you! You’ve helped bring my pre-order total to 135 in 11 days. Thank you all so very much.

So, I had an idea. Let me know what you think. If everyone of you can get just one of your friends to pre-order this "dangerously close to PG-13";-) debut novel from a passionate, budding scribbler, then we could double this motherfu—...I mean total in just one day. Pretty please. As always, I would be grateful.

Sincerely,

Todd

    100 PRE-ORDERS!

    Aloha All,

I’m happy to share that I have reached the century mark for pre-orders!  While this doesn’t exactly make me Steven King or J.K. Rowling, I’m on pace for the first goal of 250 that will get Lost in the Fog published.  I truly thank you all for your support!  The ultimate mark is 750 pre-orders to receive the full Inkshares marketing and promotional treatment, but right now the focus is to get to 250.

    I have two more months.

Like most writers, I consider selling and marketing to be on par with stepping on a jellyfish.  When I published A Model Community, my first novel, I mostly just put my head in the sand and hoped it would sell.  Such laissez-faire effort, to nobody’s surprise, produced poor sales.

I’m determined to be more active this go around, and I’m off to a good start.  While 60 days (the deadline to reach at least 250 pre-orders) will arrive quickly, I continue to ramp up my efforts with emails, social media, and advertising.  Getting Lost in the Fog out there to the world is my mission!

Another critical component of this is word-of-mouth, and you all continue to play such an important part in my book’s success.  So many of you have shared Lost in the Fog on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and I am so grateful!  While you have already done so much, I humbly ask one more favor.  If each of you were able to email or text just one of your close friends the link to pre-order Lost in the Fog, I would appreciate it more than you could ever know.

Thanks again and I look forward to sharing more exciting updates with everyone!

I plan on adding the second chapter of Lost in the Fog for all to read this week, and if you would like to check out one of my short stories, you can find it at my new website.  It’s called “Streetlights”, and it’s about one guy’s comical and bittersweet attempt at reconnecting with his junior-high crush.

    Mahalo!

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for The Last Machine in the Solar System

        Machiners!

Can you believe we flew past the one month mark since publication? Crazy times! This will be a quick update with some goodies to report.

First, The Last Machine AUDIOBOOK is coming! You read that correctly, this is going to be epic! And I don’t expect it to take very long to produce. After a highly competitive audition process - 60 narrators submitted recordings to read Jonathan’s story - I’ve selected the voice to read our story! Look for an update in the next month or so about a release date. Shooting for around July 1.

Super important: Have you read the story? Have you not left a review on Amazon?

Then I need your help. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. I liked the Last Machine for x and y reason, etc. One or two sentences will do the trick. Want to write a longer response to the story? Please do - Reviews come in all shapes and sizes! We need to get to 100 on Amazon, and at the moment, we have 16. Many thanks in advance!

        Amazon page for reviews: https://www.amazon.com/Last-Machine-Solar-System-ebook/dp/B06XRSS26Y/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8

Lastly, pics! From the book launch at Book Passage in the San Francisco Ferry Building. Oh, and the book in Huntington, NY at Book Revue next to some guy named George R.R. Martin.... I told you these were crazy times :-)

          This is the final countdown!

Only 26 orders to go. The champagne is in the fridge beckoning me to open it. If you have not ordered yet and would like to be a backer for The Walls are Closing In, now would be a fabulous time to jump in. If you would like your name in the back of the book, this is your final chance to buy a "Super Reader" package before that ship sails.

Once The Walls are Closing In hits 750, a few exciting things will happen:

          1) The book will officially switch from "Funding" to "In Production," and I’ll await word from Inkshares on when to turn in my manuscript for the first round of developmental editing.

          2) I will announce the winner of the $250 Airbnb gift card.

          3) I will send out the limited edition bookmarks. Please send me your address if you would like one. Either DM through Inkshares, or to jacquicastle@gmail.com

          Stay tuned! -Jacqui

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Under The Rug

            Hi everyone,

So, it’s been an exciting trip so far. Once again, I want to thank you all for supporting me in my venture to become a published writer.

In the past seven days, I’ve felt a few different things, emotionally. I had no idea how nerve-racking putting yourself out there could be. But, it’s quite a blessing. It’s scary, but it challenges me. It’s made me look closer at my work; you’ve made me look closer.

I’ve received lots of feedback; some people love what I’ve written, some...meh. But to me, all feedback is positive. Thank you for taking the time to tell me what you think. I agree with most of the criticisms and decided to ease up on the harshness of the story. Part of me felt that it was so necessary to paint the characters a certain color—and I think I still have—but you, the readers, have really made me re-think and understand that I don’t need to say "Fuck" as much as I think ;-). That and a few other things. I was worried about taking away from the characters, but with my recent edits, I believe those characters, and the story, have gained something.

Look, I’m still new at this, and although I’m confident in my abilities, I am not perfect. And what I write isn’t going to impress everyone. I get that. But you deserve to be heard. You’ve invested your hard-earned money in me. That’s something that I don’t take lightly. I care about your experience.

You’ve all, already, made me a better writer. I’m grateful for your honesty and I hope that you’ll see improvement in some of the changes I’ve made. Now, the story is a harsh one, so it’s not going to be puppy dogs and ice cream, but I think I’ve made some small but important adjustments. And I would love to hear what your think.

            Thanks again,

            Todd

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Devil’s Call

              Hello friends,

I apologize for the radio silence, but I’m back now with exciting news!

Despite the fact that I fell off the radar for a few weeks due to an unplanned hospitalization, the bus is pretty much driving itself at this point: Devil’s Call has gone off to the typesetter and has a lovely cover from the amazing David Drummond that includes several positive blurbs. Jerry Smith from Fangoria, James Demonaco (creator of The Purge series), and J-F. DuBeau (author of A God in the Shed) contributed lovely words about the novel. ARCs have gone out, and reviews are starting to trickle in on Goodreads.

              Check out this cover!

One of the immediate impediments to my online presence is the lack of Internet at the transitional housing where I’m staying while I wait to hear back about a more permanent supportive apartment. (At risk of getting all TMI over everybody, part of the reason I was hospitalized had to do with a nosedive of a depressive episode that involved a relapse after 10 months of sobriety, so here we are.) While I am able and intend to go online using WiFi hot spots, the majority of my time is now devoted to recovery.

But! Devil’s Call still has a publication date of July 17, and I am very stoked to see where my little novel goes this summer. Will make more of an effort to keep y’all up to date from now on.

              xoxo,
              J.
