Entry #9: August 10, 2013

In an effort to continue this mental purging, I’m going to write my entry today instead of next week.

So I didn’t hurt Dr. Harper’s feelings saying that I missed Dr. Winchcombe.  She actually suggested I talk more about him.  I’m not sure how much I can say, or how much I want to say, but I’ll let you know he was awesome.  My parents disagree, but they don’t really know him.  Plus they’re quick to blame what happened on him, and his inability to "fix" me.  It’s not his fault.

I started seeing Dr. Emil Winchcombe when I was a teenager.  Like 15 I think.  It was mandatory that I saw him at first because I really did try to kill myself.  (That was the longest sentence I’ve ever typed. It’s hard to look at.)

This might be the first time I cried about it.  I’ve been lying on the floor for the last half an hour.  I know you’re reading this.  I’m so sorry.

I get why you didn’t want me to see Dr. Winchcombe.  I’m sure you were scared.  You just cared about me.  I can’t fault you for that.  I’m so sorry I put you through that.  But you have to admit, Dr. Winchcombe figured out I was on the wrong meds.  And I’ve told you until I was blue in the face, I wasn’t trying to kill myself the second time.  It was an accident.  But I digress.  We don’t need to rehash that.  It’s in the past now.

I love you.  Both of you. Thank you for putting up with such a screwed up daughter.

Okay, I’m exhausted.  That’s enough.

Entry #10: August 25, 2013

I hope no one was alarmed by my absence.  Although, the two people who read this blog both know exactly where I’ve been, so it doesn’t matter much.

In case anyone else is reading this, I’ve spent the last ten days up north with my family.  My mom just dropped me off at home about 30 minutes ago, I just unpacked, and now I’m going to hit the hay.  I have an overnight to work tonight. So that’s fun.

I was going to write an entry up there, but to be honest, I just never felt it.  It was vacation. Sue me.  I promise though, I’ll be back on track here now that I’m going to sink back into my normal rotation.  My good ol’ boring ass normal rotation.  I have some stuff I might have to catch you up on.  Maybe.  If I feel like talking about it.

Goodnight,
E

@Paul Robinson Thank you very much, that’s actually very exciting! I’m now curious as to how reader interest is measured? (It does seem like something that would be kept secret so nobody plays the system, but if it isn’t I’d be happy to know)

Does Blink apply to books that are in the draft stage, or is there still an expectation that they raise some funding on their own?

Also, to me it seems like some part of the funding process is meant to demonstrate to Inkshares that the authors are genuinely serious about their book and dedicated to getting it published. Isn’t there some risk that blink might select a project where the author, for whatever reason, really isn’t ready for, or ultimately even fully interested in, bringing a polished and complete book to the publishing table?

          2 questions come to mind:

1: Is Blink a ’full ride’ collection?

2: (This sort of depends on the answer to 1.) How does it work in relation to Quill? If there’s interest in a Quill book can it get moved over to Blink or will it remain a Quill book?

or is this just a collection for books still in funding?

Amanda Orneck liked an update for Human Resources

Thank you everyone that has been following Human Resources here on Inkshares. Today I received some exciting news. Actually, "exciting" doesn’t cut the mustard in this circumstance.

Today, The Launchpad Manuscript competition announced its Top 75 finalists -- and Human Resources is in the list! I am humbled, excited, and a little intimidated -- but I am strapped in and ready for the ride now taking off.

If you don’t know about the Launchpad Manuscript Competition -- it is one of the "Inkshares" competitions, but a little different to their others. This one is run independently in conjunction with Energy Entertainment and  Scott Free Productions

            (yes, *that* Scott).

Apart from being a partnership, this competition differs from Inkshares regular fair by having an expert judging phase -- entrants had to submit a traditional synopsis and up to 50 pages of manuscript for industry judges to assess.

The Top 75 have been selected by that panel.

You get to pick the winners (hint -- pick me).

At some point there will be a more traditional Inkshares crowdfunding competition -- I’ll be reaching out to you when that happens. For now, I’m just too excited not to share the news!
