    Hi everyone!

This is the first readers update for Ranked. Which is pretty obvious, but in all seriousness, I am going to share something really important today. Which got nothing to do preorders, YET.

Okay, this book won't start kicking in preorders until at least next year, July the 26th.
So don't hold your breath for anything that is really important about this book quite yet. But you should still tell all your friends that enjoy dystopian YA to follow this book. When I am finished with my first book project(which incidentally, is also sci-fi. Except it's sic-fi thriller not YA. But I urge you guys that do like this genre to support this book. Click this link), then I'll start building the general audience for this book.

The first few chapters are up for preview. For those that don't know, it's online. Look at the first few chapters here:

    READ THE PROLOGUE HERE

    READ CHAPTER ONE HERE

    Go on. I'll wait.

Okay. Now we got that out of the way, it's time for the REAL updates. As had devote a lot of time planning this book, making timelines for the history of the events in the book, character relations, mind maps, general world-building, etc. I have to put a lot of thought into constructing the bare bones of the book. So far, I am proud show you a map of The Atlas. A flying city that will be the central location for the middle bits of the plot where the main character goes up into the sky because of a few key events(I don't do spoilers).

Okay. Does that look badass? Yeah, I'm not exactly a professional graphics designer and I plan to have the Inkshares guys to help me with the graphics. But for now, I'm doing this on my own. I'll send more graphics in the next update. Heck, I might even put up a few more chapters. But for now, that will be all.

Also, I assume you guys had figured out by now the main character is a female. I will reveal her name later on. So yeah. Bye...

      Hi enthusiastic fans and supporters,

I have posted chapter two and it is now online! The link is here.

Also, blogs everywhere are picking up! Okay, maybe not every blog, but John Robin blogged about it(kind of, he made a passing mention), Mr Hart's also blogged a bit about my book. So I would be lying if I'm saying that my book is languishing in ignorance, ut admittedly it could've gone better. Though I would say so far so good.

As of now, it is more or less 3% funded. Woot! You guys are showing overwhelming support and enthusiasm here. With just a bit more preorders, maybe things will finally take off and hit it big time. Then I can afford lunch. Because writer spend too much money on coffee, not that much on lunch.

For those followers and casual readers who have not yet purchased their copies, I warmly recommend you to do so. Every order helps, every order is going to be needed for me to be able to buy KFC's family bucket. The link to preorder is here.

In the meantime, for those who enjoy epic fantasy instead of sci-fi, I strongly recommend you check out blood dawn.(https://www.inkshares.com/projects/blood-dawn).  John had been very helpful and supportive so far, so I wanted to help him as much as possible. It's awesome.

So until the I got 1,000 preorders, please keep spreading the word about the science fiction comedy known as The Remains Of Civilization, and do not forget to pre-order your very own copies. That would help. A lot.

      Sincerely,

      Yicheng Liu

Hello! I like the premise of the book, but it simply doesn't have the element good story telling in some places.

There was areas you might need to rethink about a bit, for example, "sad smile". When you looked through the draft, did you really think that if a person in real life knew a psychopath, she would make a sad smile? Judgements aside, that could be possible, but maybe change it to "a mask of pure terror". That would've made it sound more realistic and more emotional as it foreshadows what happens next.

The actions could've been dragged on for longer, as it too brief and happened too quickly.

I also find it a bit clichéd to bait the readers with questions about the backstory of the book. Perhaps explain a bit of what's happening? Thanks.
