Kyle T. Cowan liked an update for The Battle Within

Hello everybody,

I hope everyone had a great holiday period and are off to a good start for 2017. It’s been a couple of months since the last update on The Battle Within, so here’s the latest information.

Timeline

We’re still on track for a book launch of 27 Jun 2017. At this moment the manuscript is about to enter the proofread stage and while that’s happening, advance reader copies are going out for endorsement. I’m happy to say that initial feedback has been very positive. We’re already starting to make plans for the book launch party, so if you’re going to be in Ottawa during the last week of June, please include that in your plans!

Upcoming Developments

Being new to the publication process, this experience has been great in learning everything that goes into marketing a book. One of those aspects is getting the book into brick and mortar stores (or their electronic equivalents). Believe it or not, but there’s great opportunity for an author to get involved here and one thing I’ll be working on over the next few months is engaging the regional distributors in the United States who provide books to the Army Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES – or the PX for a more familiar term).

Also, The Battle Within is featured on Goodreads at  https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31922135-the-battle-within?from_search=true#other_reviews. If you have a minute, please click on the link and add the book to one of your shelves!

Other Projects

The big news on this front is that I’ll be finished the second draft of my next novel, Jihadi Bride, by the end of this coming week. After that comes the search for beta readers and then I’ll start the editing process in earnest. Still a lot of work to accomplish, but I’m very happy with how this novel is taking shape.

That’s it for this update, but as always, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thanks again for your support and patience, and all the best in 2017,

Alastair Luft

Kyle T. Cowan liked an update for The Slave Prince
    It’s 2017!

But I’m afraid... I have no news on when The Slave Prince will hit the shelves.

At the moment, I’m waiting for Inkshares to request for my manuscript. With a long list of books to publish, I can only hope I’ll be contacted soon. But while we wait, here’s an interesting article on Inkshares’ book production timeline.

    http://blog.inkshares.com/post/154475375840/a-note-on-pub-dates-from-the-inkshares-production

It explains how their books are made - the steps required and their time frames. TL;DR It takes 12-18 months to produce a novel upon manuscript submission. So with that said, it is safe to assume The Slave Prince will only be out in 2018.

The wait is agonisingly long, I know. However, I plan to use the time to tinker with the manuscript again. And while I do that, I’ll be pitching my other novel to traditional publishers, embarking on a new fantasy blog series, and writing a whole lot more.

If you’re interested in joining me on my bookish endeavours, while diving into free fictional reads, head over to my blog: https://jeynagrace.wordpress.com/ It should fill your time while waiting for The Slave Prince. Once the book starts production, I’ll be sure to update you.

To all those who recently asked about the book, thank you for your excitement. Knowing you’re as eager as I am makes my day. To the rest, thank you for your patience. It is very much appreciated. Please remain seated, as I’ll be back.

    Happy (belated) New Year everyone!

And Happy (early) Lunar New Year to those who celebrate!

        Followers of Kill Creek!

I’ve reached 90% of my light-publishing goal!  Only 25 more pre-orders to go.  But there’s also only 6 days left in the campaign!!!  If you haven’t ordered yet, please consider doing so now.  I could really use your help.  And to those who have ordered and/or helped spread the word, I wouldn’t be this close without YOU.  Thank you for supporting my dream.

        Or, should I say, nightmare...

See, I probably should have warned you.  Indulging the spirits that reside in the house on Kill Creek is to invite them into your life.  It doesn’t matter if you leave the house in your rearview mirror or close the book and set it on your nightstand.  Whatever this thing is that walks the dark, dusty halls of the Finch House, it knows you now.  It needs you.  That odd scratching sound you hear in the dark could just be your cat’s claws as it creeps across the hardwood floor.  But you’d be wise not to look.  Just close your eyes.  Do not peer over the edge of your bed.  Because it isn’t your cat (you don’t even have a cat, what were you thinking?!).  It’s that...thing from Kill Creek.  And it wants you to go back...

        Good luck sleeping.

Kyle T. Cowan liked an update for A Prophecy for Two

          Hi, marvelous readers!

We’ve reached light publication (the Quill level) and joined the Quill collection here on Inkshares, so we’re moving into production! Yay! *throws confetti*

They’ve told me the timeline moving forward will be roughly ten months until readers get their copies in their hands; this has to do with time needed for a round of light copyediting, getting the back cover (design, any text, etc) done, shipping of physical copies, and so on. (I admit I was hoping it’d be a bit faster, since Inkshares is a nontraditional publisher - but I’m not complaining!) We’ll see if we can’t speed that up a small amount, though, since the cover art’s already done and it should be a fairly clean manuscript (I correct student writing for a living, after all...), but in any case: we’re into production, and I’m so excited! I’ll keep you updated as things progress...
