Kendra Namednil liked an update for Kill Creek

Hello all,

You probably forgot you were beloved supporters of my horror novel, KILL CREEK, didn’t ya?  Well to say that things have been crazy this summer would be a massive understatement, but I’m happy to tell you that rewrites of KILL CREEK have gone well, and the book is now with an incredibly talented and much appreciated copy editor.  There will still be tweaks to make and last minute notes to address, but KILL CREEK is still on schedule to hit bookstores, on-line vendors and your hands/tablets at the end of this October!

I can’t truly express how excited I am to get this mutha out into the world.  It’s changed quite a bit since I uploaded the first 50 pages to Inkshares last year, but it’s all in the name of strengthening character and plot to give you the absolute best horror novel possible.

Expect more updates as we hit the last few milestones!

Best,

Scott Thomas

Kendra Namednil liked an update for APEX

    Dear readers,

I am making good progress on my novel, and I’m excited by how it’s coming together. The process of editing takes a long time, but I’m happy to report that my storyboard is almost finished. The editor and I have agreed on the story except for three items where I have additional work to do: I need to strengthen the storyline of one of my key characters, I need to tighten up the action scenes in a couple of crucial places, and I need to work on the theme. Obviously, the theme is the most challenging of these three. However, I am in agreement on what needs to change with the theme and how it needs to be improved to make it consistent with the overall plot. My goal is to make these edits to the storyboard by the end of the week and get the green light to proceed—and then I will begin rewriting the manuscript. Hopefully with all of this pre work, the rewriting will not take that long. I’m excited to get this book into your hand as soon as possible, but I also want it to be the best book it can possibly be.

Kendra Namednil liked an update for Sunshine is Forever

I’ll never get to hold my debut novel for the first time again, and that’s awesome.

Last week I went up to Inkshares headquarters in Oakland to sign all of the preorders. Each preorder has a number signifying that you were one of the first four hundred people to preorder a paperback.

And there’s more good news! The books are shipping today! You’re getting the book before it even comes out because you are awesome!

I hope you are happy with the product! Please be sure to rate the book on Goodreads as soon as you finish. After August 29th I’ll send out another update asking you to review the book on Barnes and Noble and Amazon as well. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/33534889-sunshine-is-forever

My next book KARID will go up for preorders soon after Sunshine is Forever is officially released. Be sure to follow the book so you can get a unique signed paperback of KARID, too. Follow here: https://www.inkshares.com/books/karid

Thank you for your continued support,

Kendra Namednil liked an update for Battle Flag: The Road To Hell

So I’ve been quiet for a bit, but with good reason, I crashed my bike two weeks ago and a broken rib is a good excuse to be lazy. We’re currently sitting out about a month and half left in the campaign so you know get your orders in soon.

In the very near future I am going to go through and do another big edit on The Road To Hell. I actually finished the manuscript and edited it several times three years, or more, ago. But, as I’ve been thinking of it recently, I thought of a few things I could do differently in the story or different ways I could say somethings so I figured I ought to take another pass at it. As I get chapters redone I’ll replace the ones that are on the project’s page. So if there’s any advice or anything you’d like to see changed drop some critiques on the chapters now. If the orders are rolling in fast at the end of the campaign I’ll get an extension on it and keep bringing up more of the redone chapters, until that halfway chapter that’s already up.

        See you later!

Kendra Namednil liked an update for The Slave Prince

          It’s August again.

One year ago, The Slave Prince entered the Geek & Sundry Fantasy Contest. Boy oh boy, weren’t those days fun? I remember hustling you for support, checking my book’s status daily, and worrying if I could tough it out till October. It sure doesn’t feel like a year ago with such an experience. But, I’m glad I did it all.

One year later - this very month itself - The Slave Prince begins production. Yes, the ball is rolling! But as much as I’m celebrating, I have my work cut out for me. And I have to say, it’ll take a while before the book will be in print.

A week ago I received developmental notes from Inkshares’ Story Head, and just last Wednesday I responded with my rewrite outline. To make The Slave Prince better, some scenes have to be changed, more world building needs to take place, and a deeper drive must be given to the characters. So, I’ve decided to put writing the sequel of my trilogy on hold to focus on this novel. And I hope, I really hope, that I’ll be able to get the book ready for copyediting by the end of this year.

With all that said, there’ll be silence in the coming months. But the next time I write to you, I should be done with developmental editing. Now, it’s time I put my gameface on - it’s time I finish this race.

Writing. Editing. Writing. Editing. That’s been a typical day the last little while (those that’s a lie, I was on vacation for several days last week).

Just wanted to update everyone who has supported me and this book, and are not on the Facebook page, to let you know that things are moving. I don’t yet know when the book will be published but we are in the midst of editing. As progress develops I will let you know!

Now, back to writing! Enjoy your day!

Kendra Namednil liked an update for A God in the Shed

                  Hello horror fans!

There’s so much I want to talk about today, but for simplicity’s sake, I’ll keep it to two thing and both of them are a plea for help.

Please, if you can, review A God in the Shed on Amazon and Goodreads. There’s a long list of reasons why you should do this. Some are marketing, some have to do with the television option, but mostly, you want to win the leather bound copy I’m raffling off when we reach 100 reviews on Amazon.

Wow... for a second year in a row, one of my books is nominated for a Dragon Award. That’s right, A God in the Shed is nominated in the horror category. You can turn this nomination into an actual victory. Just head over to the voting page and fill out the form and when the voting ballot comes in please vote for A God in the Shed.

NOTE: If you don’t know how to fill out the rest of the ballot, here are some suggestions!

                  • Horror Novel: A God in the Shed, by J-F. Dubeau
                  • Science Fiction: Rise, by Brian Guthrie
                  • Young Adult/Middle Grade: It’s All Fun and Games, by Dave Barrett
                  • Apocalyptic Novel: The Seventh Age: Dawn, by Rick Heinz
                  • Fantasy Novel: Dangerous Ways, by R.R. Virdi (a friend of mine)

Thank you again for your support. I fail as a writer because I can’t conjure the proper words to tell you how much your help has meant.

                  JF
