Leelyn Colclasure liked an update for Mission 51

Hi, everyone!

I’m writing to let you know that Mission 51 will participate in the 2017 Launch Pad Manuscript Competition! This is exciting to me because it means that I will take Mission 51 into an Inkshares funding campaign around the end of the summer or early fall. The best case scenario is if it happens as a Launch Pad Competition finalist, but it will go into funding one way or another. I simply can’t wait any longer to bring you this story!

I have now updated the Mission 51 Inkshares page to reflect my Launch Pad Competition submission. There are eight chapters and I included some of the original artwork that has been produced for this story.

Thank you all very much for your patience while Mission 51 has been simmering in draft mode. I believe you will see that it has been worth the wait!

Peace, y’all!

I just saw this conversation, and an update by Brian Marsden about submitting through Inkshares and having your story in draft.

Just wanted to add my two cents and say that I entered my manuscript through Launchpad’s website directly yesterday and there was nothing on their entry form to say I had to register with Inkshares as well to be eligible, or that my book had to be posted anywhere else.  In fact the only mention of Inkshares in the Rules is:

    • All submissions will remain the property of the writer(s) throughout the contest, however if selected as a finalist you agree to grant Launch Pad and partners an exclusive 90-day window (from announcement) to all film, television and publishing rights. During this period of time you agree to not submit your book or manuscript to a literary agent, TV or film, agent, manager, or publisher other than Inkshares, without express written consent by Launch Pad. The exception to this is if you are already represented, in which case we look forward to collaborating with your representatives.
    • If within 90 days of being selected as a finalist you are not successfully signed by a literary agent, TV or film, agent, manager, or selected to be published by Inkshares, you are free to submit your book or manuscript to any agent, manager, or publisher.
    and
    • Employees and their immediate families (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside or those living in the same households, whether or not related) of The Tracking Board, LP, Energy Entertainment, Paradigm Talent Agency, Inkshares (together with LP, the “Promoter Parties”) and each of their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, licensees, ...
I had no trouble registering, and my book is in funding.
I also wasn’t required at any point to link anything back to my Inkshares page.
I can understand Inkshares wanting to cross-pollinate, but Launchpad isn’t an Inkshares exclusive competition.

Anyway, hope that is of some interest/help.

    cheers
    Helen.
