Caren Simpson McVicker sent an update for Henderson House

    Dear Henderson House supporters,

It’s official!! The team at Inkshares is reading my manuscript and I can expect to receive my editorial letter around October 18th. "What the heck is an editorial letter?" you may be asking.

Well, an editorial letter is a manuscript evaluation. It addresses bigger picture issues like the primary characters’ story arcs, pacing, character development, and other elements of effective story telling.

Based on the extent of the concerns in the editorial letter, we will know how much rewriting I have to do and we can, hopefully, begin to think about a publication date. I’m so excited for this next phase in the process. One of the main reasons I wanted to work with Inkshares was to have a full editorial experience, learn about my areas of weakness, and become a better writer!

For those of you interested in reading the early draft chapters of book two, working title Sequoya Road. I have created a project page on Inkshares. SPOILER ALERT: If you didn’t finish Henderson House while the draft was available online, the early chapters of Sequoya Road definitely contain spoilers so read at your own risk. As always, I’d love your feedback. Here’s the link. For updates specific to Sequoya Road, please follow that project.

Many thanks for all your support on this journey. Feels like we’re really moving now!

    Best,

Caren Simpson McVicker sent an update for Henderson House

      Happy September!

I have a quick update from the home team at Inkshares. Henderson House is next in line. They are currently working on editorial letters for Stephen Harrison’s novel, Infodemic - Stephen is a fellow contest winner.

Infodemic is about an unlikely group of volunteers who must race to defend the world’s most popular online encyclopedia against malicious disinformation during a global pandemic.

The Inkshares team will move from a present-day online battle for the truth, to 1940’s Bartlesville and a private struggle between two sisters to find it as well. Oh, those sneaky universal themes :)

I will keep you posted, but next on deck is a great spot to be.

      Cheers,

      Caren

Happy Monday to all my Henderson House supporters!

I don’t have any updates from Inkshares other than a wonderful confirmation that once my time comes, Henderson House will get all the editorial attention and support it needs to become a wonderful book. I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to the editing process. In many ways, taking a long break from the book and its characters is probably a good thing as I will come to the editing process with the ability to see the work with new eyes.

Thank you all for your patience and continued support. I have a new blog post up on working on more than one book at a time, and yes I am! You can check that out on my website at:

            https://www.carenmcvicker.com/post/more-than-one-book-at-a-time-yes

Also, if you want to follow my author page on Facebook, you’ll find that at:

            https://www.facebook.com/CarenSimpsonMcVickerWriter/

I’m working to get all the tools in place so I’m ready to hit the ground running once we get this book into production.

If you are interested in seeing draft chapters of the second book in the Henderson House series, let me know. I can set up a draft page on Inkshares and upload a few.

Wishing you and yours a safe and healthy end to the summer or winter for my Aussie friends!

            Cheers!

Surprise! If you pre-ordered through Inkshares, check your email! You should get your ebook TODAY!

Holy crap! You can start reading! Hard copies should still be shipped out August 31.

I’m so nervous and excited and so happy for you to finally be able to read this story!

Sending this early also means you have three weeks to read as much as you can and write a review on Amazon, Goodreads, Barnes & Noble, or wherever! It doesn’t have to be long, or even good. It can just say "I loved it" or "It’s lame." But the more early reviews I have, the better the book will do! If you write a review, fill out this form and I’ll send you an awesome sticker for your help!

Thank you so much for all of your support!! I hope you enjoy On Home!!!!

Caren Simpson McVicker liked an update for THE GHOST TRACKS

Hi everyone. Just wanted to give a quick update on THE GHOST TRACKS. We are still on schedule for an October 19th release date. The first copies of the book are currently at the printer now.

I’m also happy to reveal the final cover. Tim Barber at Dissect Designs did a fantastic job creating it, using an idea from Inkshares CEO Adam Gomolin. Couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. Hope you like it as much as I do!

Caren Simpson McVicker liked an update for WILD CONVICTION

                    Tuesday, July 27, 2021

Hi Readers, Supporters and Followers of WILD CONVICTION!

Good news! This morning I submitted the completed manuscript of my novel, WILD CONVICTION, to Inkshares!

(I had hoped to do this a month or two earlier, but several difficult life changes and tragic events slowed my process and progress.)

Thanks for your great suggestions and support to my beta readers and to all who have read chapters and commented or reviewed on my WILD CONVICTION Inkshares page.

I have completed my own series of rigorous editing and made some changes I am happy with, so now it’s in the reading queue for the editors at Inkshares.

The process to publication will take some time, and I am grateful for your continued support and patience.

I’ll keep you updated with information as I receive it from Inkshares. We are moving toward the day when you can read the entire novel!

Until then, don’t hesitate to contact me and to read the chapter postings on my WILD CONVICTION Inkshares page.

I just added two more chapters today—Chapter Six and Chapter Seven:

                    • Chapter Six mentions more about the famous historical literary figure first mentioned in Chapter Four.
                    • Chapter Seven introduces a surprise fictional character who adds intrigue and more conflict to Twilight’s life...

To read, go to https://www.inkshares.com/books/wild-conviction.  Click on READ.

And, as I have been promising, I’ll be sending GrandMama’s “actual” letter--with secrets, magic and mystery inside it--to those who pre-ordered and want it but haven’t yet received it.

This letter is the important Chapter 3, which is not available to read on my Inkshares page.

I have sent out GrandMama’s "actual" letter to many who have pre-ordered, but then life became very difficult, slowing that process also. But now I plan get back to sending those out to those of you who have been patiently waiting.

Please tell your friends and family about pre-ordering the novel, for GrandMama’s letter filled with secrets, magic and mystery is a "pre-order perk"--sent just to those who pre-order and want the letter. (After receiving each pre-order, I write a thank you email and ask if that person would like the letter mailed to them.)

Remember—for anyone who’d like to add Wild Conviction to their life, they can! By pre-ordering!

                    Thanks to you all!
                    Best wishes,
                    Mary
