Alan Tucker liked an update for Rise

So totally stole this from J.F. Dubeau.  Life has been so busy, I didn't have time to write this myself.  So thanks J.F.!

Today is the first Inkshares Review-a-Thon!

The heck is that you ask? It’s a day where Inkshares and we authors encourage everyone to leave reviews of books funding on Inkshares!

How do we do that you may ask? Well, by giving away stuff obviously. So what do you have to do to participate?

Simply go to Inkshares and browse books that are currently funding and leave reviews. You’ll be entered into a draw for cool prizes! It’s that simple!

 Prizes? Prizes!:

Sword & Laser Contest Winners Package - print copies of the six winning books from the Sword & Laser Inkshares contest for one winner!

Nerdist Contest Winners Package - print copies of the five winning books from the Nerdist Inkshares contest for one winner!

An immediate pre-order of the book of their choice for five winners!

$30 in Inkshares credits for five winners!

But wait, there’s more! Starting at 6pm EST, Ageless author Paul Inman and I will be hanging out on YouTube interviewing people from Inkshares, talking to authors and needing out about books.

I really should have posted more about this but it’s been a busy week.

Wait… are you still here? Go review some books!

          Good evening Machiners!

I hope you are all strong in body and mind. Here is wishing you a fantastic holiday season and New Years!

I don't want to take up too much time this evening. For many of us, tomorrow is a big day (more on that in just a moment). But here are a couple of quick hits...

First, if you haven't seen the new video trailer for The Last Machine yet, the handiwork of fellow Inkshares author Yicheng Liu, go check it out! It's like an early New Years gift.

Second my apologies for being a little slow on the 50th reader raffle. I blame my wonderful readers for the wave of support, which is humbling. We blew right by 50 readers and then past 60. So thank you very very much! Therefore, without further ado, I'd like to announce Paul Robinson as the winner of the raffle for the super early edition of Rudyard Kipling's Mine Own People. Go check out Paul's science fiction book Ghosts of War, a planet hopping tale of revenge and retribution!

The new plan is to have special raffle giveaways at 75 and 100 readers! I know we can do this. You all continue to prove it to me each day. Updates to come on just what those raffles will entail...

OK, and now for the section of this update dedicated to tomorrow's epic Review-a-Thon - Inkshares' first annual! Full details below.

But first, and importantly, for anybody who pre-orders tomorrow, Saturday 12/19, whether you are pre-ordering for the first time or have before, you will receive a signed copy of the book cover art. It will be signed by myself and the magnificent artist who created it, Jack Katz, author of The First Kingdom.

Looking forward to an awesome day!

          ------------------------

On December 19th, all authors and readers are invited to leave reviews on currently funding Inkshares books using the Inkshares “leave a review” option.

Throughout the day we’ll be hanging out on Twitter in the #InksharesReviews tag as we share our favorite book projects, answer author Q&As, debate the merits of astronauts with swords versus cavemen with lasers, and much, much more!

From 6 - 8pm ET, JF Dubeau and Paul ‘such a nerd’ Inman will be hosting a Google+ Hangout lifestream filled with author interviews, review readings, and live announcements of prize winners!

          Prizes?!?!

Everyone who leaves a review on December 19th by 6pm ET will be eligible to win one of our fantastic general prizes:

Alan Tucker liked an update for The Garden of Oroborous
Hello All. I will be making my rounds of my fellow Inkshare authors tomorrow and hopefully kicking out a few reviews when I can. In the mean time, let me tell you a little about The Garden of Oroborous and tomorrow's contest.

If enjoy character driven narratives, I think you will find The Garden of Oroborous to your liking. A captain in a future history has the unenviable task of teaching a coalition of mankind's alien allies about the human concept of war. At the time Jennifer Rodriguez is questioning her own devotion to the human art of war and wondering if she will have a republic to come back to.

Check it out here: https://www.inkshares.com/projects/the-garden-of-oroborous to have a look. I will be doing some rewrite of Chapter 1 (in about five minutes) as well as putting chapter 2 up tonight.

            The Contest
The those who Pre Order over this weekend you will receive a personalized Certificate of Commendation from the Solar Republic Navy, signed by Captain Jennifer Rodriguez (the protagonist) and myself.

For those who review.. the first five reviewers will have a dreadnought class vessel named after them and mentioned in the novel. You will also get a certificate declaring the name of this vessel and none of these will be destroyed in the novel.

To my fellow authors: if I do not get to your book tomorrow, know that I will do so this week and write a review that will, I hope, be constructive and encourage people to support you.

              My Dear Animals,

It's been a whirlwind week! I've barely had time to check in with the inkshares community, but when I did, I found some downright amazing stories waiting to be told. I gladly spent some money on some handfuls of books yesterday. This website, this place, this platform, these people... It all means so much to me. I've found a measure of success here, and I want to give something back.

That's why I'll be spending a little time tomorrow participating in the Inkshares Review-a-thon! Here are all the details:

Get ready for the inaugural Inkshares Review-a-Thon, an independent event, organized by Inkshares authors! On December 19th, all authors and readers are invited to leave reviews on currently funding Inkshares books using the Inkshares “leave a review” option. Alan Tucker liked an update for Dax Harrison

Hi everyone and happy Friday evening! I hope yours is going swell, whether you're waiting in line for Star Wars or hanging at home in your PJs.

DAX COUNTDOWN: 8 days remaining, 38 orders to publishing!!!

First off, another quick thank you to everyone (as always). The support from friends, family and my fellow authors has grown even more as the deadline approaches. It's wonderful. You're all wonderful. I am a puddle of fuzzy feelings.

...*ahem* I mean, um, manly. Very manly feelings of appreciation. *hearty handshake*

Now, a couple details I forgot to mention about tomorrow's Review-A-Thon event:
-JF Dubeau & Paul Inman's livestream event can be viewed at THIS YOUTUBE LINK. Be sure to tune in at 3PM Pacific Time / 6PM Eastern!

What's on the schedule? Live author interviews, Q & A's, AND (here's the part I forgot to mention before): A live reading from the original screenplay/first draft of DAX HARRISON!

Yes! We are going to read through an action-and-goofs-packed scene from the book! Naturally, we have not rehearsed this in the slightest, and it is sure to be ridiculous, nonsensical, and plenty of fun. Don't miss it!

The rest of the details for tomorrow's event (including prize giveaways) can be found at my previous update, HERE.

And finally, I would like to take a minute and shout-out to several of my fellow Inkshares authors, who have not only graciously helped spread the word of Dax at one point or another, but also have amazing projects of their own that deserve your support! Some have already successfully begun production, and many still need your help to get there! Please consider all of these fine folks for your reviews tomorrow, and/or support their projects if you can spare the cash (or if you have some lovely Inkshares credits to use).

This is by no means a complete list of everyone who has helped me out on this journey, nor a complete list of the amazing books currently funding on Inkshares, but I'll be sure to highlight some more folks another time. :)
