I love this! A high fantasy novel with rich world building reminiscent of Tolkien -- and with airships! Beric's inner narrative stands out strong on the backdrop of a world twisted by conflict, and Byron Gillan does a great job of anchoring us in the immediacy of it with rich, vivid description, while allowing the details of his world to keep through just enough, like ice bergs. Totally recommended for any lover of fantasy!

Very, very, VERY rarely do you meet a book that instantly clicks with you and makes you go "Yes. Yes, this is the book that I want to currently be obsessed with." This happens to be one of those books. We are so excited to read more, so we can't wait for this to be published!

"Children of the Forest" is the best kind of sci-fi. It's a book that has something to say about a real issue that troubles our real world, but it approaches it through the lens of fiction. Nin is a valuable world, and two factions vie for control of its resources. The struggle between them promises to be electrifying, and the fact that author Byron Gillan knows how to craft some truly searing imagery and cook up a roiling conflict with his expert wordplay across every page only draws me deeper into "Children of the Forest." I cannot wait to get the final.

Delving deep into this book is easy to do for a reader. The characters, the world building, and the beauty of the language shapes this novel into one that any reader could sink into. A fantasy and sci-fi mixture in a blending that makes the reader want more.
