Shawn

I fully funded and I think that the answer to your question is not on how many followers do you have, but in how many commitments you currently have to pre-order you r book. The bulk of your pre-orders will (or will need to) come from your personal network, the rest will be support from other authors (if you are good at building community) and the smallest piece from strangers that just will run into your project and think is awesome.
Inkshares is a crowdfunding platform and the number one rule in crowdfunding is knowing that you already have a committed base that is ready to support you as soon as you say go!

Thing that you should ask yourself: do you have a big enough social circle, how comfortable do you feel asking people for money, how comfortable are you following up with people several times.
In my opinion your number of followers on Inkshares is irrelevant because  many of them are nothing but other authors who want you to buy their book .
I put together some crowdfunding resources in my website, feel free to check them out. Maybe you’ll find something useful www.ricardophenriquez.com

Good luck

Shawn Furniss created a forum thread: When did you open preorders?
I’m kind of looking for some advice\stories especially from those who have hit the 750 and 250 milestones about when they decided to take the leap and open up the preorders for your book. Did you wait until you had 50, 200, 300, etc. followers or did you just take of from maybe a dozen? Did you wait a couple months or a year to do it?
I guess a followup to this would did your preorder campaign fail before it succeeded and how many times?
I ask because on the one hand I’m all gung ho and ready to go but then I think "no I can’t pull it off right now."
It’s a bit like Confidence and Paranoia from Red Dwarf. :)
