What makes the pregnancy unnatural? So far, everyone seems to be normal people, making me believe this to be a natural, normal childbirth. Perhaps emphasize what makes it unnatural somewhere in the previous text?
The unnatural pregnancy had taken a toll on both of his patients, and he urged his magic to repair as many internal wounds as he could.
I like this paragraph. I think it shows the limits that magic have in your world, before you ever write about what those limitations might be. Good foreshadowing, I’d say.
