Stephen Harrison liked an update for Bane of All Things
Happy Saturday!

Two years ago today I had my first, fateful conversation with the CEO of Inkshares, Adam Gomolin, after he had confirmed Bane of All Things had made the cut. (He has never said so, but I remain convinced that though I had apparently "gotten the job," I could’ve easily blown this final "interview" depending on how I conducted myself.)

After rounds of developmental editing, reviewing and copyediting, I sent over this morning the final full package for typesetting. This included my dedications and acknowledgments, along with a brand new world map (below) that I just created in a program called Inkarnate that will look really sharp in the trade paperback format.

Onward and upward to launch day on Nov. 16!

Stay safe and keep reading.

    Hi Friend!
Wow…so everyone who has published before was right. After all the waiting and hard work, once you finally get the greenlight, things move quickly! My manuscript is basically ready for copy edit—my editor is going over things one more time and then we’ll send it over! We also have an amazing cover designer—Lauren Harms (check out her work here) working on cover design, and I should be seeing drafts in the next few days! I can’t wait to share a cover with you!!!

I’m also thinking about swag and have some awesome collaborations in the works with local businesses! I want to send you awesome On Home themed goodies!

In other writing news, I have a first draft of my nonfiction punk book for WVU Press printed and I’ve been marking that up, I’m drafting a fun rom-com, and I’ll be writing the content for MommaStrong challenge emails the third week in April.

I’ve started doing weekly YouTube updates about this whole book launch process, and if you’d like to see my goofy gushing more often, I’d love for you to subscribethere and share with anyone who might be interested!

On March 17th, my mom surprised me by showing up in my driveway (cue tearful hugs) and we got to spend two awesome weeks together! I’m set to get my second dose of Moderna on April 9 and two weeks later, with my RNA sufficently modified, I am looking forward to enjoying such luxuries as visiting a covid compliant restaurant and seeing friends I haven’t seen in a year outside with masks on. I hope you’re also looking forward to cautiously reconnecting with parts of the world you’ve missed. Sending lots of love and gratitude, as always.

Stephen Harrison sent an update for Infodemic
WE DID IT!!! Thanks to your support, Infodemic came in second in the 2020 Inkshares All Genre Contest! We finished number 2 out of 383 entrants, which means that the novel will be published.

I am very grateful to all of you for the support and enthusiasm. Like the editors who contribute to the fictional Infopendium, this was definitely a team effort :) So thank you!

WHEN WILL YOU GET YOUR BOOK?
Inkshares estimates that the publishing process takes at least nine months. A few books have been delayed due to COVID-19. I will keep you posted.

In the meantime, I will be working with a team of professionals on the manuscript itself as well as the marketing to give Infodemic the best launch possible. Also, Inkshares is known for securing audiobook/film/TV deals for its properties, and I’m certainly excited about that possibility.

HOW CAN YOU CONTINUE TO HELP?
Infodemic can continue to take Pre-Orders, which will help with hitting bestseller and other industry benchmarks. Tell your friends to reserve their copy on the Inkshares page.

      STAY CONNECTED
I continue to write regularly for Slate and have recently published stories in WIRED and the Columbia Journalism Review. If you or someone you know is fascinated by stories about internet info & misinfo, check out: stephenharrison.substack.com

Thank you again for helping to get this book out there.
