Hi everyone,
The first round of alpha reading is going great, lots of good feedback and corrections to work on. In fact I now have my first serious review quote:
“This is very Kim Stanley Robinson-esque – very good!” - Jonathan Maas, award winning author of the novel Flare
So I seem to have hit the tone, style, and world building that i was aiming for, not to fix the grammar and related issues.
As a thank you for following my progress in this I would like to share this offer with you, full disclosure is that they will ask for your email address and add you to the author’s mailing list in exchange for each free book, but you can opt out at any time after you get the book.
Go to http://sffbookbonanza.com/freebooks/ and at the bottom choose Science Fiction or Fantasy to go to the appropriate list.
If you would like to find me on social media, or about my non-fiction writing see the links below
Best regards, and happy reading
Eric
Hi everyone,
Sorry for the long delay between updates.
Draft 1 is finished and has been sent out to select alpha readers. "What is an alpha reader?" you may ask. They are people who have agreed to read the novel very early in the process to help clean it up prior to sending it off for professional editing. This enables me to have someone else look it over and see all the things that I (and MS Word) missed in terms of me knowing what I meant, or details that I missed, or even the ever elusive missing comma.
Initial responses have been encouraging towards tone and ld building, but all have mentioned the constructive criticism that I need to make it a better novel.
Meanwhile, I was recruited to write a chapter in a technical book. Ok, so less recruited then I asked a question "but what about a chapter on ..." and got back the response "can you have it written in 3 weeks?"
So I am pleased to announce that this has been published:
Chapter 9 "Telecom security 101: What You need to know" is mine.
Best of all you can download it here for free (requires signup): Peerlyst eBook 2 - Essentials of Cybersecurity
In other news, I have updated my website with details about my non-fiction book chapters and links to my various social media accounts. I will be adding a template and artwork soon.
So thank you all again for sticking with me, and I will let you know when the editing process is over and I have an idea when, where, and how my novel will be published. Until then I will be working on the next writing project.
Best regards
Eric
