Hey, everyone. Long silence, I know; haven't had much to say. There's been practically nothing to report.
The momentum from the contest has ground to a halt. Comic Con was a bust. I passed out some cards to artists that I spoke to, who were receptive and willing to share their cards with me, but none of that has led to any more sales, nor greater exposure. Trying to talk to people on the floor, in that morass, was practically impossible (for me).
I got some nice support from Nicholas West, so be sure to check out his book: Cancel the Ark. He believes that I can do this. I'm halfway to the eBook goal and 35% of the way to the print goal. But I simply cannot do it all by myself. I need his support, I need your support, I need the support of people you know.
Please, if you haven't yet ordered, order a copy. If you want to trade pre-orders, get in touch; I've got credits to spare.
Otherwise, I'm continuing to revise and considering my options if this campaign proves unsuccessful.
GREAT NEWS!
Blood Dawn just jumped from being 1/10th of the way to its funding goal, to being almost 1/4. This happened all in a split-second!
That's right -- check out my project page. Inkshares lowered my funding goal so I now only need 1,000 pre-orders to reach my publication goal. With 6 months to go, and given how quickly momentum has grown just over the last 2 months (and let's not mention all the tricks I have up my sleeve to amp up my outreach more and more with each month to come), I'm very encouraged. This book is going to be real, published, in your hands, out there for epic fantasy fans to enjoy.
Please keep spreading the word. If you have followed this book recently, I'd appreciate your support right now. Head over to my Blood Dawn page (https://www.inkshares.com/projects/blood-dawn) and look at the three options for how you can back it.
Right now there are about 100 readers following Blood Dawn who have not ordered a copy. If every one of you became a Dragon backer (7 copies), we would be at 1,000. We'd be done, just like this -- as quickly as the funding goal dropped from 2,500 to 1,000. That's an amazing thought, even if it is ambitious.
If all of you became God-Kings (3 copies), we'd be more than 50% to the funding goal. Regardless, if each of you ordered a copy Blood Dawn would be so much further ahead.
And of course, regardless of what you choose to do, I am overwhelmed by all the interest this book is generating. While I continue to make this book as amazing as it can be, I'm encouraged by the growing reader community.
This is a great moment for Blood Dawn and what lies ahead!
“I can't just let you take a patient to your room, Lieutenant,” said Carina.
“Better that he be a vegetable, here?" Erin asked. "Just lying here, with no one knowing what to do? I think I can help him, Carina. Let me help him.”
“What is it with you?” Carina asked, crossing her arms.
“I feel things, Carina. More acutely than you, or anyone else.”
Carina exhaled so that her lips fluttered. “You haven't met Tuah.”
“Captain, be serious, damn it. I'm an empath. A low-level telepath. I can't read thoughts, but I can sense what people actually feel. It's like one big bullshit detector and it's horrible.”
“I bet.”
“And what's especially horrible is that Rivetti. I've met a lot of malignant people, people who are almost irredeemable, but almost all of them had some kind of redemptive quality. All Rivetti wants to do is hurt people. I've never encountered feelings so black.”
“You grew up on Venus, didn't you?”
“Yeah, so what?”
“Welcome to Earth.”
