Melissa Berg liked an update for Blood Dawn

Dear readers,

I was a guest on the WriteBrain podcast! Episode 12 of JF Dubeau and Paul Inman's popular podcast aired yesterday and for the first time they had a guest. I was honored to be their first.

Come and listen here on JF's site, where we talk about writing, publishing, some of the fun we all have as authors on Inkshares, and even ... murder confessions!

And while you're there, be sure to check out JF's work. You can pre-order The Life Engineered on Amazon right now. (Here's a link for that: http://www.amazon.com/The-Life-Engineered-J-F-Dubeau)

JF is also still funding his book, A God in the Shed, so if you're into a story about an ancient trans-dimensional god in your backyard shed, check it out and please show your support!

Melissa Berg liked an update for The Talkers are Talking

Hello everyone!! Just wanted to let you know that for 10 bucks a month (or two lattes) you can help indie authors get their book published (and you get a copy of each book too!) With encouragement from some of the wonderful people at Inkshares and the backbone of the entire community, John Robin, I've decided to launch a syndicate that will search out and support stories with a strong female leads. If you can't contribute, please spread the word! I'm thinking of it as a great way to read more every month in a unique Book Club sort of way.

    Much love xx

Melissa Berg liked an update for The Children of the Forest

      Hello everybody!

I don't have much time so I'll be keeping this brief, although I have a lot to talk about! The S&L contest is over, and unfortunately The Children of the Forest did not take one of the top 3 places. I'm still very proud that the novel managed to hold onto 5th. With the contest finished, the grind goes on.

I decided to bring in an outside pair of eyes to help detail the opening parts of the book, and thankfully, the ever-incredible John Robin took the time to help edit and offer constructive criticism and advice for the book. I've updated Chapters 1-5 to reflect the changes to the story, and I'm quite happy with the results. John Robin is of course the author of "Blood Dawn," which is also funding on Inkshares, and if you haven't yet, you should immediately check out his work. It's fantastic.

Looking ahead, I've restructured the rewards and information for The Children of the Forest, and anticipate the outline provided on the book's Inkshares page will be the model I hold to for the remainder of its funding duration. Due to a combination of critical and fan feedback, I truly believe in the story and characters more than ever, and intend to fight and claw my way to the 750 sales required to see a full publishing deal realized.

This is the point where I'd like to implore anyone who has followed me or look my work previously (and this goes double for those of you who have passed on pre-ordering) to give the book another chance. The chapters have been cleaned up or else "fixed" and they all read amazingly-well. Further still, I've added more rewards and services to give early-backers extra incentives to pre-order.

Lastly, I just want to let everyone know that the Amazon prize drawing is still scheduled to take place. Due to unforeseen developments I was not able to find the time to enter all of your information into a random generator. I will be taking care of this tonight or tomorrow, at which time the winner's name will be announced!

I guess that's it for now, so until next time, everyone be safe and enjoy the updates! ~

Melissa Berg liked an update for Blood Dawn

Today I want to announce something exciting for Blood Dawn!

I'm finally on Johnslist, thanks to Craig Monroe, author of The Bones of the Past and a winner of the recent Sword & Laser Contest 2.

        So ... what's Johnslist?

Nothing at all like Craiglist, I promise. Johnslist is one of many ideas the Inkshares author community on Goodreads has come up with to help work together and promote other Inkshares books. The idea behind it is simple: one of the community members creates a thread encouraging other members to help a certain project get funded. An author cannot create a thread for themselves, because otherwise that's self-promotion. It has to genuinely be other members of the community. I was the first author to do this for Andrew Wood's great epic fantasy book, Storm of Fury, but then the trend continued, which is why the authors named it after me.

If you'd like to help Blood Dawn get fully funded, then you can join the efforts. First and most important, if you haven't bought the book yet, then let's rectifying that right now -- click here to order an ebook or print book of Blood Dawn.

All right, so for those who have ordered and really want to help get this book into bookstores everywhere, you can now join the team effort. Just follow this link to the thread:

        https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/17978018-let-s-get-blood-dawn-fully-funded

If you're an author and you haven't heard of the Inkshares promotion group, then be sure to join up because you're missing out on an amazing wealth of knowledge on how to succeed with crowdfunding a book. Even if you're not an author, feel free to join our group if you are a passionate reader and would like to help or share ideas. The community is open to all. Plus, we'd all love to hear from some readers on exactly what interests them or turns them off when it comes to choosing new book projects to back.

The final 3 months is here, so lets work together and make this happen!
