Sounds like an intensely provocative book. Could go several directions, based on the tone of the blurb. Could go with horror, depending on how the child goes and how her life goes in the meantime, could go with something more sentimental, bringing about some kind of reconciliation between her and the child, confrontation with the rapist later on, just lots of different directions.
