Tony Valdez liked an update for The Faceless

I wanted to go ahead and update the readership on what the plan is going forward with The Garden of Oroborous as well as THE FACELESS and Wicked Boys. I am not sure we can overcome the distance in the current Sword & Laser contest. It would be great if we can, but I am looking forward with tGoO. We have 54 days left to achieve a publishing level and I think this is very doable. So I am working on Chapter 3 (slowly and carefully) and will have that up near the beginning of next week. I am considering some promotional ideas for it as well and hope to have a big push beginning next Monday.

The FACELESS did not reach its goals as far as pre-orders. However, it has exceeded my expectations in regard to its potential. My plan right now is to finish Chapter 6, put that up here for people to read, and then see how Wicked Boys does in self publishing. Ideally it will catch the eye of one publisher or another and I can pitch THE FACELESS to them for a more traditional publishing route. The other options are self publishing it as well or trying again here on Inkshares. The book has a future though and one way or another will see the light of day.

Now, for Wicked Boys. Ideally I will finish Wicked Boys Part One: The Onset of Night by the end of January and have it to my editor. I would love that process to take less than two weeks of back and forth, which means a publishing date in late February or early March. The Onset of Night will be the first four chapters (approximately 12k words) of Wicked Boys. I plan on selling each section for a $.99 and there will be about ten sections. So this process will be ongoing. I imagine it will take about 18 months to publish the entire novel in this way, but at the end it will be a great piece of fantasy literature and readers can collect all ten parts. Once all ten are published I will publish the entire novel as one book.

I appreciate all of my readers and the feedback that I get. I am forging forward in this great quest to live the life of the starving artist and am glad you have chosen to come along for the ride.

Tony Valdez sent an update for Dax Harrison

Hey guys and gals! How's everyone's first week of 2016?

My wife and I have been fighting a nasty, nasty cold/cough/sore throat/harbinger of phlegmy doom. So Dax progress has been a bit derailed the last few days. I'll be back with a proper update soon. Listening to the rain and enjoying buckets of hot tea has been lovely though. For those of you here in Southern California having to commute, stay safe! It's crazy out there.

I like to imagine Chris Farley is somewhere above us right now having a laugh...

Now, an important message for fans of epic fantasy! With only eleven days remaining and 94 copies left to order, a fellow Inkshares author needs your help!

Storm of Fury by Andrew Wood is an epic fantasy novel set in a war-torn land besieged by its own god. While avoiding a seemingly endless web of political schemes and plots, a young man must overcome his own lack of skill to confront his deity.

To find out more about this project, visit Storm of Fury’s homepage here:https://www.inkshares.com/projects/storm-of-fury

OR, read more about it now:

If there was one thing in certain in life, it was that man was a sinful creature. It his nature, it permeates his mind and perhaps even his very soul. It is whispered that once, long ago, man could simply ask for forgiveness, and it would be granted freely. But not anymore…

The great, almighty god Na’lek has scorned his creation, angered by their constant failings and unholy acts. Now, his divine rage is made manifest as an immense, supernatural storm. This is the Fury, and its sole purpose is to eradicate mankind.

This eternal war, god against man, has continued for countless years. The Fury has assailed men for so long that even the storm’s origins have grown vague in the minds of the people. This was the era that Kaven was born into.

After nearly two decades of proving himself over and over to be a failure in all he does, Kaven is presented with an opportunity. While the world falls apart around him, Kaven is tasked to go out into the Fury and beg for mankind’s forgiveness, one last time.

But if Kaven can survive the perils within the storm, the anger of his god and the treachery of his fellow man, the secrets that he uncovers may be far too much for him to bear…

And take a look at what some fellow authors had to say about Storm of Fury:

"The world Andrew Wood takes us to with this story is superb and believable. It's a tough act to establish a storm as an antagonist, but Wood does a great job of creating real extensions of this storm that give it a tangible, menacing presence, a la George R. R. Martin's White Walkers or Jordan's Myrdraal. In fact, the mood and tone very much conjured the familiar world of Wheel of Time, where instead of a dark one we have a menacing storm that is just as terrifying. This is fine epic fantasy and I very much hope to see this book in print so I can read it in its entirety." -John Robin, author of Blood Dawn

"A wonderfully immersive example of what epic fantasy should be. Whether describing the fury of a divinely created storm, the horror of monsters and titans, or the love of pastries shared by father and son soldiers it does so in a fast paced but highly detailed way. It will leave you wanting to know more about what are both highly developed characters and a highly detailed world. I can't wait to read the entire book." -Thomas J. Arnold, author of Exile, Magus

Tony Valdez liked an update for Uncharted Territory

Finally ... finally got a new chapter of Uncharted Territory finished and posted a few minutes ago. I have to apologize for the delay, especially after expecting to have it finished much sooner. On the up side, I'm getting a few more hours at work than I was previously, which of course helps me pay the bills and keep a roof over my head, but it also cuts into time I'd prefer to use for writing and promoting finished books like Chaser and Project Revenant. But necessary evils and all that, heh.

Pile on top of that a mild case of writer's block and a number of other everyday-life stuff that got in the way, and ... well, if I could sum up the past couple of weeks in a single image, it'd be this one:

But here's hoping I'm getting back on track. I did make a New Year's resolution not to let myself get sidetracked like this, so I don't want to break it less than a week out of the gate. Still need to catch up on a couple of things, then the next project to finish is a new chapter of Harbinger. That'll be coming up soon, if nothing goes too horribly wrong. And after that will be the next chapter of Uncharted Territory.

In the meantime, thanks to everyone following and supporting my books here, and I hope your new year got off to an awesome start. :D

Tony Valdez liked an update for Ghosts of War

            Hey guys and gals,

Firstly an apology. I'm not exactly sure where the last 7 weeks have gone to, but things have been a bit all over the place and a lot of stuff has gone by the wayside. As such there hasn't been an update for a while. Well it's now a new year, and with it comes a new focus on getting this book done and out to all of you. So, on with the update.

            Writing update
As I said above, a lot of stuff has gone by the wayside lately, finding time for writing has been one of those things. This year I'm attacking writing from the angle of it being a Monday to Friday job, with a minimum of 1,000 a day to be written each weekday. So provided I don't add another couple of chapters, the first draft will be done in the next couple of weeks. This is a handy thing too, because:

            Campaign Update
As of this writing there are only 5 days left in Ghost of War's funding campaign and we're currently sitting at 292 copies sold which is great. Beyond great in fact. In actuality it's miles beyond what I could have hoped for when I set out to do this.

I could extend and shoot for 750 copies sold, but with the recent rate of sales (11 copies sold since the 29th of October), the amount of time I'd have to extend wouldn't be worth it. So I'm sticking with the original end date and I'd imagine, with the work left to do on the book, that it will be getting to you in the second half of 2016.

            Other Updates

Cover Art - Since Ghosts will be a Quill book, I have to provide the cover art. So I'm currently exploring a few other options in case I (or Inkshares) decide that the current cover doesn't work for whatever reason. I'll keep you all posted with progress on that front.

Sequels - I've been continuing plotting out the sequels to Ghosts over the christmas break (other than Star Wars it's about the only thing I could focus on) and they're starting to take shape. The third book had been especially nebulous for a long time but is really beginning to come together.

Well, I think that will do for now. I plan to get back to doing weekly updates, especially now that things will be ramping up a bit. Look for them on or around Sunday's from now on.

            Until next time.

PS: If you haven't ordered a copy of Ghosts of War yet, there's still time to do so and get yourself a signed first edition copy.

Tony Valdez liked an update for The Knight Proper

Knights, Gravewalkers, Minstrels and mouldering corpses lying in the mud, tis’ high time we delivered an update worthy of your purview!

We’ve fought, clawed and scraped our way into 5th place, this parade of champions known as “The Sword and Laser Contest”, this morbid celebration concerning implements of death, but also of fantastic writers and their accompanying books – and we duly tip our hat to them.

As such, the competition is fierce, but we shall fortify our gullets with our usual wine of ill-repute and ask for your favor, no, not *that* kind of favor, but the one that involves PRE-ORDERS. Steel thyselves and drag out your friends, family and animal companions (at least the ones in possession of e-mail addresses) and grant us victory! Er, with more PRE-ORDERS, that is! We grovel, we beg, we-

Ok, ok, enough of all that. But yes, the pre-orders. REALLY important.

We leave you with one last bit of THE KNIGHT PROPER trivia for you…  our rabble-rousing minstrel “Cass”, was originally “Cain”, inspired by a character that Matt had originally written for the game, Neverwinter Nights 2.
But Adam, sly agitator that is he is, had the great idea to turn “him” into a “her” and Matt cried and wept inconsolably at first, but then came to see that it was indeed for the better… and we think you’ll agree!

Tony Valdez liked an update for The Last Machine in the Solar System

                My wonderful Machiners!

Tonight I have an important update for you which includes a call to action.

Earlier today we reached our 170th unique reader! We continue to hold 2nd place in the standings. 170 is an amazing number, and to be quite honest, we have exceeded what I originally thought possible in this contest. However, with 10 days remaining, it has become clear that it will not be enough. Perhaps not close to enough.

The standings remain incredibly close, and it's a testament to both the great talent in this contest and the great opportunity presented by Inkshares.

So, I must ask more of you. Having seen the tremendous support throughout this competition - including at least one new reader every day since I jumped in on December 2nd (which I’m particularly proud of) - I have great confidence that my friends, family, co-workers, associates, classmates, athletic team members, and the many supporters who I have no connection to other than through this story, will answer the call.

Most importantly, please know that I continue to work. Heartened by your support, I am not asking myself, how can I hold onto 2nd place? I am asking myself, how can we make a run over these 10 days to win. I didn't really expect to be here. And now that I am here, why not go for it? It may not be possible. We face a considerable deficit. But the push continues, and in 10 days we let the chips fall where they may.

So, if you haven’t yet pre-ordered, please jump in and join me. If you have pre-ordered, I need you to spread the word, and implore your nearest and dearest to jump in too.

                Thanks so much!
