Wings of the Pirate nails the feeling of Romancing the Stone, or Kenny Loggins' "High Adventure" album (which I assume Heisner listened to on repeat while writing). It feels like an adventure and a vacation, like a good story should.

Guylas's Stephen King-like attention to detail puts you in the scene. You smell the expected smells, you see the expected things, you hear the expected sounds. And then, artfully, you begin to feel the ominous background radiation of the unexpected.

Eudaimonia is dark and unsettling in that way that tells you it is important and all too relevant. Beyond that, it is a great read; it is one of those reads that improves you when you finish.
