We’ve passed into the double digits! As of right now, we’re at 97 orders to go. We’ve almost caught up to where we were before we lost all the orders. Keep sharing and spreading the word. The time for the final push is here!

Also, I absolutely couldn’t wait to share this: Kaytalin Platt, author of The Living God, has made this amazing Tantalus Depths poster! Feel free to share it anywhere.

    It’s the final countdown...

Ba da duh duh...ba da duh duh duh...

Here we are, once again. Nine days left as of this moment, and...we’re pretty behind schedule.

    Those are some scary numbers...
Is it possible? Technically yes. We just need to get, on average, sixteen orders a day. It can be done. I’ve brought in as many as 25 orders in one day before, in the earliest days of my campaign. I’ve blocked off a sizable chunk of next week to do absolutely nothing but campaign work. I very much want to finish this on time.
But I also have to be realistic. The odds are against finishing on time. I will not let my campaign end without reaching 750 orders, so if I must get an extension, I will. However, I’m goin gto try my absolute hardest to finish by the end of the current deadline, without needing another extension, and to that end, I’m offering yet another promotion:

If we succeed in funding Tantalus Depths by its current deadline, I will write an exclusive prologue, no fewer than 15 pages long, to accompany the book. This prologue won’t be a part of the book, but will instead be released as an additional sample chapter posted on Inkshares.
I have ideas for what I’d like to write, and I’d like to do this as one huge "thank you" to all of the loyal supporters that have helped get this campaign as far as it’s come. If we finish this on time, I will write the prologue and release it some time between sending Inkshares my manuscript and the end of the year. If we don’t make it on time and I have to apply for an extension again...the prologue will never exist.
Pre-order your copy. If you already have, bring in friends. You can even order a second or third copy if you feel generous (Inkshares allows you to purchase up to ten.)
We’ve been on our journey far too long. It’s high time we reach our destination among the stars.

      Meh Update:
Those of you who follow these updates regularly (and I genuinely have no idea how many of you do) may have noticed that I haven’t had much to say over the past two-ish weeks. You may also have noticed that my pre-orders have barely moved at all. So what’s the deal with that?

      I’ll be honest. I’m exhausted.

I’ve been working this campaign since March now. This has taken up the majority of my year. We’ve come an incredible distance in that time, but the distance to our goal is still vast. We’ve sold six pre-orders in the past ten days, and only eleven days remain to get the remaining 158 we need, which is virtually impossible barring a miracle. I’ve been told I can get another extension if I need one, (and if I need one I will get one) but...good lord am I ever tired....

I’ve poured my life, heart, and soul into this campaign, and right now there’s just not much of me left. My brain is fried and I’m having a hard time thinking of new interesting story-based content to update with that won’t spoil anything I want to keep secret, or lore-related content that isn’t completely disconnected from this story. I have a few ideas left, but I haven’t had the energy to put them together cohesively yet (expect some soon though).

I miss having a life outside of campaigning. I’ve had to put a lot of the things I love on hold for the duration, and I miss those things. I miss being able to hang out with friends regularly on my days off. I miss going to see movies in the theatre. I miss acting in plays. I miss DMing my custom Star Wars tabletop campaign on Friday nights. I miss...just life in general.

I probably sound whiny in this update, but honestly, I’m saying this more for my own benefit than anyone else’s. I’m still confident this is all going to be worth it. I have a literal lifelong dream within reach, and I’m not about to let it slip out of my reach. If I can get my campaign finished within the next eleven days and get back to having a real life, that’s fantastic. If I need to ask for another month or so, I will do so, and probably die young of old age shortly thereafter, but I’ll die happy.

Obviously I’m not giving up. I’m too stubborn, this is too important, and Tantalus Depths is too freaking good. But man am I ever tired.

P.S. I have something else really cool that I am working on, but it’s nowhere near ready, so I’m just going to be really obnoxiously vague about it for now. But stay tuned.

        Orders, Faoii. Are you ready?

I just got a lot of private missives about our army dropping a placement in the contest today. I am so honored to fight next to all of you. I’m strengthened by how many of you are willing to do whatever it takes to make this book a real, tangible thing. I’m astonished at how many of you want to help. At how many of you have asked "What can I do?"

Here’s the best thing you can do: Find ONE soldier out there who will pick up a blade. ONE warrior who will use $10 to support our cause. ONE person that’s willing to support a dream.

Here’s the tricky part, though-- in order to actually be successful at crowdfunding a dream like this, you have to ASK the person directly. Face to face (or through a DM if that’s easier). There needs to be an actual connection--something deeper than a shared post addressed to "whom it may concern."

I know. It sounds impossible. No one likes to actually ASK people upfront to help support something like this. I KNOW-- because I’ve done it SEVERAL HUNDRED times now, and each time my stomach dropped. But I still did it.

We’ve come so far, Faoii. It won’t end here. This is the last stretch-- and I want our banner on that hill in the end. We CAN do this.

        Are you with me?
