Katie Hayes sent an update for Twisted Tales for Tacky Children
Dear Friends,

At the end of each December, I sit down and I make a list of new years resolutions. Those of you who know me know that these resolutions are sometimes silly (increase hipster cred by learning to play ukulele,) sometimes practical (keep the baby alive), and sometimes designed just so I can have one accomplishment on my list I’m guaranteed to check off (buy cilantro.)  But on EVERY list I’ve made since I’ve entered adulthood, there is one item that I’ve always listed. Try and become a published author.

Thanks to you, in 2017 I’m going to accomplish that resolution.  I couldn’t be more excited, or more grateful. I promise in the months to come, I’ll work as hard as I can with my editor to try and deliver the kind of classless masterpiece you’ve come to expect from a tacky girl like me :)  I’ll update you on when you can expect books to print, ship, etc... and on the process in general.

In the meantime, we’ve still got 4 more days in the pre-order campaign. If you have additional first edition copies to reserve, or friends who still need to buy the book, you’ve got a few more days to pester them mercilessly.

Here’s to 2017!

    Great News Everyone!

We’ve blown our first funding goal out of the water-- reaching 250 pre-orders with 45 days still left in the campaign. This means several big things:

    • The book will definitely get published.
    • I will be assigned an editor, and inkshares will take care of the ISBN number, printing,  order fulfillment, and much more.
    • I’m pretty much freaking out over here.
So what’s next? As you know, the book won’t be physically printed until next year, so those of you who want to use this as a gift for the holidays this year need to email me at katiehayes927@gmail.com and tell me how many gift receipts you need! I’ll mail them to you.

We are also still on track to reach 750 pre-orders!  This would basically change my whole life, since it would put my book on bookshelves across America.  Sooooo.... If you love me, and you believe in this project, please keep sharing, pestering, and finding excuses for the people in your life to buy this book.

Thank you so much for your support this far. Y’all are the smartest, funniest, and most supportive friends a tacky girl like me could ever ask for.

    Love,

    Katie

      Hi Y’all,

I hope all of you tacky people had a happy Halloween.  I had a blast last night, handing out candy with our neighbors, and watching Millie and Sean trick-or-treat:

In honor of our wonderful street and in celebration of over 190 copies sold- I decided to post a new poem tonight.  It’s called "The Louse of King Street" and it has one of my favorite illustrations in the book.

If you have a friend who has ever battled an outbreak of head-lice at their kid’s school, be sure to send this on to them, perhaps with a thoughtful note saying "When I see something about head-lice, I always think of your kids!" They will love that.

Joking aside, if you have friends who would see the humor in this-- forward it to them and
invite them to join us, as we all work together to publish this delightful, tacky, (and sometimes itchy!) book.
