Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Resistance Rising: A Genre Wars Novel

That’s right: Mobsters appear in this novel and they are a force to be reckoned with.
For those new followers of the novel, Resistance Rising began as a filmmaking competition, Genre Wars, back in 2012, and has been an ongoing adventure ever since.  Watch the unique journey here.

It was always a goal of mine to bring the gangsters of film noir into this story, all the way back at the start of the contest.  It’s a genre that doesn’t get showcased very often; especially not next to high fantasy.

The photo above was taken by DL Moody.  There are more photographs from this production day as well as the rest of our spectacle-filled production on the Genre Wars Facebook Page.

In other news: only ten days remain to pre-order a copy of Resistance Rising!
If you are a new follower (or have been following for a while now) but have not yet pre-ordered, I hope you will please do grab a copy before it’s too late!

Cheers!

    Dearest Readers,

We’ve managed to pull into third place! It’s a precariously small lead of only 5 pre-orders, so our work is far from done, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart for helping me achieve this success. I must check the scores five times a day (possibly more) to see how I’m doing in the rankings. As we’ve risen in sales, so have my competitors. I know they’re just as anxious to rank in the top three as I am, so I’m not surprised.

After my graduation ceremony at Stanford, where I read an excerpt of my novel (very fun), I went to a workshop on getting published and how to market one’s work. I’ve taken that input to heart and will be trying a few things over the next week to see if I can gain some distance on my 4th and 5th place competitors. If I find any strategies that work, I’ll be sure and share them with you all.

Individual notes of gratitude are coming shortly. I just wanted to let you all know that we’re getting there! Only two weeks left to keep pushing for a third place finish and a guaranteed publication of APEX!

    Cheers, Debbie

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Where the Sun Sets

      Dear readers & supporters:

Thanks to you, I’m almost at 30% of my Quill goal!!!! *insanely happy dance*

      THANK YOU.

You can learn more about the story here: https://youtu.be/raE1OpHenZs

In the video I also talk about a bit about why I’m crowdfunding the publication of my first manuscript, and that is to help empower more people to become creators, while raising awareness & funds for organizations that believe the best innovation comes from the arts and sciences coming together.

In other words, my goal with this publication is to support local creators who have an appreciation of what the arts AND sciences have to offer!`

The way I can do this right now is by using my own creation (Where the Sun Sets) as an opportunity- to talk about my experience as a creator, and by using the funds generated to support partner local organizations.

Over the coming weeks you can expect to learn more about:
      - The incredible organizations I’m partnering with & Why;
      - How our (mine and yours) collective efforts are supporting each one;
      - How these organizations will be supported in perpetuity (or at least, as long as book sales are a thing) by our efforts;
      - And how you can get involved!

For all my design friends: If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing your work (your own illustrations or designs) on the cover of a published book, stay tuned for BOOK COVER CONTEST DETAILS!!!

      Please stay tuned for updates

Thank you for reading & as always, I welcome your feedback and comments.

      - Donna

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for The Last Faoii

WE DID IT, FAOII! WE REACHED QUILL!

Five years of working on this. 200 agents that either said "no thanks" or nothing at all. Dozens of re-writes. Thousands of moments of doubt. All of it has finally come to this. We reached Quill. No matter what happens now, this book will be a physical, real thing. People will be able to read Kaiya’s story. Her world will not be lost to oblivion.

        Thanks to all of you.

I can not adequately explain my feelings on the matter. For so long, this has been my everything. And now there’s finally a chance of it becoming more than that. Mostly, I feel humbled. Elated. Terrified. Alive.

        It is wonderful.

The battle isn’t over, of course. There’s still a couple weeks left in the Geek and Sundry Contest. It’s going to be hard-- damn near impossible, actually-- but according to the rejection-letter-origami-zoo I have sitting in my office, so was getting this far. "Impossible" is just a word, and not one that is in faoii vocabulary.

We’ve made it this far. We can take that hill, and we can still claim more victories in the final month before the campaign ends. The idea of "failure" is officially behind us-- there is no losing now.

Fight on, Faoii. I have never been so proud of this army as I am now.

        Thank you for everything.

        -Faoii-Tahani

          Happy Monday everyone!
I am SO excited to officially share the new, custom-designed cover for Resistance Rising with you all!

The artwork is by the amazingly talented Annamarie C. Mickey.  Discover more of her work in her deviantART gallery and you can find her on Twitter as @ac_mickey.

In other great news, Resistance Rising has officially crossed the three-digit mark in it’s pre-orders!  100 strong and still going!   Special thanks to Kassandra Marie Kimball, Tahani Nelson (author of The Last Faoii), AC Baldwin (author of The Traveller’s Cup) and Ferd Crôtte (author of Mission 51)!

It’s a long shot to make it to Quill by 11/1, but I think we can do it!  If you’ve already pre-ordered, please consider leaving a review, making a recommendation or, if you’re in the DC/MD/VA area, stop by Coffee, Tea and Reading at Dublin Roasters in Frederick, MD on Saturday morning!  Great breakfast beverages and great local authors reading excerpts from their work.

And if you haven’t pre-ordered, please consider grabbing a copy and help see this thing across the finish line.

          Thank you!

          Have a great day,
          -Robin

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Storm Song

            Good evening, Sailors!

I’ve returned home! And I’m getting right back to work. I drew the three winners for the dice giveaway, so I won’t waste too much time before getting right to it.

Our three dice winners are... Sara McMillan, Katie Chaos, and Sarah Work! I’ll be in contact with you all separately to work out how to get your prizes sent to you!

If you missed out on buying a copy to enter into the dice giveaway, don’t feel like you’re out of luck for any Storm Song goodies. I wouldn’t leave you hanging like that. What we’re going to do from this moment until the end of the contest is a print giveaway! I have been lucky enough to have met a talented young woman named Emily Zurl who created an original piece for Storm Song that I think is just the coolest thing since sliced bread. But you can decide for yourselves.

SO COOL, RIGHT?! Every person who orders a copy of Storm Song between now and the end of the contest will receive an 8.5x11 print of this gorgeous piece of art. And if you also refer a friend who purchases, I’ll write a custom note on the back and sign it. Art stays pristine and intact, but you get some customization on the piece! For those of you who have already purchased, if you refer two friends, I’ll send you a customized print as well!

October is half over, guys. That’s just insane. What’s even crazier is that it means there’s only a couple weeks left of the Geek & Sundry contest. Every moment of this has been an emotional roller coaster I wasn’t expecting. I’ve learned a lot about myself and about my amazing support system. I’ve also made some of the most wonderful new friends a gal could ask for. Thank you thank you thank you- a thousand times.

            Until the next update!

            - Allison

Fernando Crôtte liked an update for Murder at the Veterans’ Club

              Dear friends and followers,

First, allow me to introduce another one of the characters from "Murder at the Veterans’ Club": William Mainwaring, brother of Oscar Mainwaring. Not a member of the club himself, since he never fought, but intimately linked to it through his brother.

Next, I want to introduce to (some of ) you another book on Inkshares that has caught my attention: "Manifesto", by Daniel Poort. It’s classed as "horror", but there’s a strong mystery/crime/thriller element as well, dealing as it does with a serial killer and the small town sheriff investigating the crimes. It’s a reminder that you really don’t need supernatural shenanigans to make a horror story: the mind of an ordinary person can be a terrifying place.

And now I must run. It is, as I’ve mentioned before, IFcomp season, and there is a ton of interactive fiction in this year’s crop. Anyone who’s stopped by my blog will know that it is completely taken over by my ongoing reviews. So I’m busy! So until next time, keep busy, keep reading, and make sure you’re having fun while you’re at it. Ciao!

A remarkable and unique premise! Robin has created a world "peopled with cultures inspired by different genres." A self-professed "all-around geek" is over-humble, IMO. With experience in writing and film, she reminds me of Felicia Day. - Ordering now!
