Great news! I just heard from a friend that she has received her printed copy of "Shadow King."
T
That means if you ordered a printed copy, you should get yours over the next several days (if you haven’t already). And if the emails letting you know your ebooks are available have not gone out yet, you should get that in the near future.
Reviews rule! Once you’ve had a chance to read "Shadow King," please leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Reviews are hugely important when it comes to promoting a book -- and the magic number on Amazon is 50. Once a book gets 50 reviews, it will start appearing in the Amazon recommendations.
I’ll update again soon with more news!
Best,
Susan
Updates, Faoii! This is huge!
Greetings, adventurers!
Happy #MushAnch Monday! I said I’d be updating every other Monday to hold myself accountable, and here I am.
I don’t have any news about the book to share today, admittedly. As I only submitted the manuscript about 2 weeks ago, I’ve yet to receive any news. Thank you for patiently waiting alongside me. I know that when I do have news, it will be worth sharing!
I’d like to hear about you. Now that I’m peeking my head back around Inkshares more often again, I’d love to hear about your projects--new, old, funding.
I have a bit of news about my other projects. I’ve amalgamated my online presence to "The Practical Escapist"--everything will be under that umbrella name online now. I have already switched over my Facebook, Twitter (@ThePractialEsc), Instagram (@thepracticalescapist), Ko-Fi, and Patreon, and I’m working very hard on my new website. I hope it will be ready for official launch by September 24th--the next #MushAnch Monday--so I can parade it around for all of you!
I’ll be sure to have a meatier update next time, but it’s good to check in, just in case. Shoot me a "hello" and let me know what you’re up to!
May your adventures be fraught with wonder and just enough danger to keep them interesting,
K. M. Cooper
"THE END."
These may be the most amazing pair of words we have ever typed.
After years of plugging away, we are beyond pleased to inform you that we have completed the final chapter of our novel, A Friend for Otter. We will now begin a thorough editing process, which will include sharing the completed draft manuscript with a group of advance readers for diverse feedback. Once we incorporate all the editorial changes, we will begin the publishing process, and we hope to have your copies out in time for Christmas.
Thank you to everyone for your support and patience. This has been an amazing journey, but for Otter and for us. We could not have done it without your backing and encouragement.
Sincerely,
Sylvia and Jesse
Happy September!
I just got back from a ten day trip to West Virginia, which was in many ways a fact-finding mission for the edit of Rock of Ages. I took pictures of details-- patterns of shelf lining and rugs, interviewed family members, and spent time at the local historical society looking at old papers and photos.
I’m 45,000 words into the rewrite now, and I’m particularly excited about the part of the novel that follows a woman who moves from WV to Washington DC in the 1940s to become a "government girl" and classify fingerprints for the FBI. I found lots of amazing sources on our trip, including internal newsletters from the Bureau, and I’m having so much fun incorporating some of the details into the book.
I’ll keep you updated as I move along with this process. I can’t wait for you to read it!
I just did the drawing for the $100 Amazon gift card, and the winner is . . .
Hello, readers! It’s Labor Day, so it’s time for another update. First up, the info you’ve all been waiting for: I’m working steadily on the new manuscript for HOW TO REMEMBER. I expect to have the first new draft turned in by October 1.
It’s fall - that magical time of year, filled with chillier temps and pumpkin spice, at least here in Northeast Ohio. For the last two years, I’ve written and self-pubbed a short story about the season, just because I love it so much. This year, I don’t have time, since I’m working on the rewrite, but if you’d like to check out my previous titles, here’s the link on Amazon. A few are also on Biblioboard and OverDrive if your library has a subscription. I always donate any profits I make. Last year I gave money to hurricane relief - I’m not sure what the cause will be this year, but I’ll be sure to let everyone know.
Be on the lookout for more news about the anthology I’m working on, too. In the meantime, enjoy that fall weather, when and if it shows up!!
This week has marked a milestone for What She Lost. First of all, I reached 100 orders (THANK YOU!!)! Secondly, another publisher has expressed interest in my manuscript! While I wait to see what happens, I continue to edit and polish my novel. One chapter that I always found moving revolves around the events of July 31, 1940 in Olkusz, Poland. This day is known as Bloody Wednesday. I uploaded a chapter that takes place in the first half of my book where the events of this day unfold, as seen through my grandmother’s eyes. I did extensive research on the historical events that took place this day, and used a couple of photographs passed down to me as inspiration. To see more actual footage, check out the following link on YouTube

Again, if you haven’t pre-ordered the book, I invite you to do so! Can I reach 110? 120? Also, I’d love to hear from my readers. Don’t hesitate to drop me a line. Thank you all for sticking with me on this journey!
Melissa
August 2018
Hello everyone -- apologies for the recent radio silence on "The Devil Inside." It is still in the pre-production queue, but with "Shadow King" ramping up for its October 2 launch, I’ve really been focusing my attention there.
I have learned from Inkshares that there are about 8 books, give or take, ahead of Devil in the line for the editor. That means official production won’t kick off until sometime in 2019, which is what I had anticipated.
I know many of you also follow my adventures with "Shadow King" but there are several who joined this intrepid band after the Shadow King funding adventure wrapped up. I’d like to invite those who aren’t as familiar with it to stop over at the Shadow King page and check it out (and if you purchased a copy, that would also be amazing!).
I’ll send another Devil update when I have some news to share on production status -- thank you all so much for being so patient while the production process unfolds!
Best,
Susan
