A terrifying evil is released in a remote town. It infects everyone it touches and the only thing standing between it and the rest of the world is the local sheriff.
Craig A. Munro liked an update for Bane of All Things

Hi, all. Thanks again to each of you for your support to get this ball rolling (hopefully it will start to roll faster :). If you enjoyed the first two chapters, I have just uploaded the next two. Chapter Four is notable because it introduces the heroine of the piece, Josalind. (Chapter Three is of course notable, too, for different reasons.)

In case you weren’t sure and were wondering, Bane of All Things is a complete novel, itching to burst from the starting gate. I already took it through the meat grinder twice with an excellent freelance editor before joining Inkshares (I hope it shows).

As always, word of mouth is a writer’s best friend. Please share Bane of All Things with any friends and family you think may be interested. It’s always worthwhile to note that this is an all-or-nothing crowdfund -- if we don’t hit the pre-sales target, all supporters will be refunded. No one’s dollars given in good faith vanish into a black hole.

That’s all for now, and happy reading.

Cheers
Leo

ONE WEEK TO GO until the official Launch Event for "The Animal in Man: Violent Mind" at the Book Cellar in Chicago!

I’m hoping we can pack the house and get a little mini-reunion going for my old Gage Park High School kids and their favorite English teacher. (...did I say ’kids’? You guys’re like 24 now. Holy chr...) Of course, all my friends, family, and fellow sci-fi/fantasy nerds are welcome as well!!  SEE YOU THERE!!

Here is the info: Thursday, Nov. 1, 7:00-9:00 PM at...

** I do want to inform the original backers (during the contest three years ago) that due to a delay in printing the demand for the books, you unfortunately won’t be receiving your signed copy in your mailbox before this event. I utterly regret this circumstance. I have been assured by my publisher that the copies for the Book Cellar event will be there on time. I am very sorry. I’m flying out to San Francisco to sign YOUR copy of the book as soon as they can print more. I will totally understand if you come out to the event and don’t buy one (another one) because you already have one on the way. **

Craig A. Munro liked the forum thread, Any interest in commisioned book trailers?
Good evening Mr. Traver! What sort of music videos? I’m fairly new to all this, but I’ve slowly been editing more and more just on the side for fun. I knew when I started kicking around ideas for the trailer for my book that I didn’t want to have any actors in it. My thoughts were that a book trailer would be fine kept simple using props and things that could convey what I wanted to say without needing people actually acting it out. If anything, I thought about using shots of people from behind or at angles that wouldn’t need facial expressions or dialogue. One thing that would be worthwhile is having dialogue playing over the video (a little narration perhaps).

I would probably start yours off with maybe some footage of the main character during WW2 and some of the scenes from back then with news footage and some shots of Nazi related propaganda and what not. After that, I’d do the transition after the war and into becoming a PI. In the case of Gumshoe Rules, I’d probably do some stock footage to establish the time being set in the Cold War.

Music is super huge too as I’m sure most people know. Timing out the cuts with the footage is annoying sometimes, but definitely makes all the difference in the end. Some book trailers are just too flat out plain. They throw lines from the book in there with a static image that changes. While this is nice, people are watching a movie for a reason (at least that’s my opinion on the subject).

Anyway, hopefully this  gives you an idea of how I approach book trailers. I think they’re definitely useful and worth the time to get some more sales.

Hey, everyone. Let me apologize for how long this page has been up with no updates. I admit I was having some other issues that made writing harder. I’m making some great progress with the story now, and while it is not finished, it’s coming together nicely.

I recently entered it in the current Horror Contest, and that means opening up soon to pre-orders. Tell your horror-loving friends! I’ve put up two more sample chapters for your enjoyment.

Craig A. Munro liked an update for The Living God

            Hey guys!

The Living God finished its 3rd round of dev edits a few weeks ago. I’m waiting to hear about next steps, I suspect it will go back through a copy edit. I’m also anxiously awaiting the new cover! I haven’t seen or heard anything yet.

In the meantime, while you await the release of the book in March 2019, I’m posting chapters of a book I started working on a while back before getting The Living God published took up a majority of my free time. It was my NaNoWriMo project for 2014! I dusted it off and I’m polishing it up for you. Check it out! Be sure to follow to get updates on new chapters.
