      Wouldn’t they have a better view of the street and have more material between them and the street to muffle any noise if they were on the second floor?

        Being on the first floor it gave them great visibility of the street, yet helped keep them hidden and muffled any accidental sounds before they reached the road

        Comma after loading bay. "Making it hard to become trapped." sounds a little awkward. I think "leaving several escape routes" would sound better.
