Michael Haase sent an update for The Madness of Mr. Butler

Writing, writing, and more writing!

With only a few days left until my son is born (hours if he comes early) and Mr. Butler’s revision stages being not quite complete, I expect to submit the manuscript in June. I just wanted to let you all know this in advance. It is a realistic goal, and I am growing more and more proud of the book as days progress. Mr. Butler’s tale has blossomed into something far greater than originally envisioned. I’ve pulled together the most brutal band of beta readers I could find, and once I get chapters back from them I will post revised chapters on here for your perusal. Thank you for hanging in there, everybody.

In the meantime, I’ve done something that is a little bit on the crazy side, or if you know me, I’ve done something fairly expected.

I just put another book on here for funding. This one is called "An Adventure With Dada," and it’s a foul-mouthed first-person dark comedy adventure that is complete, it just needs to be pulled out of first-draft stage and into a nice, polished manuscript to be submitted to a publisher. This book has already passed through the test of my wife reading it and enjoying it. She had some critique to give, but nothing unmanageable. My wife is not a bullshitter, so if she says it’s good, then it’s good. I don’t mean to be cocky by putting another book on here or anything. In fact, I meant to place it up as a draft but apparently hit the wrong button, and when I couldn’t find the button to revert my action, I just thought "what the hell...I really like this story, so let’s give it a shot." It is quite different from Mr. Butler...not sci-fi at all. It’s a story grown from my wife’s one-time fear from when I used to tie our dogs to our daughter’s jogging stroller. She worried that they would run off with her in some sort of deranged sleigh ride, and "An Adventure With Dada" supposes this scenario to be real. The book is finished, and I would love to see it hit quill...so feel free to check it out and pre-order over here: https://www.inkshares.com/books/an-adventure-with-dada?referral_code=26dce7a3

More to come, but it’s time to write. Thank you all for your support. Much love and happiness to all.

Michael Haase liked an update for Piperverse

    Hey Everyone,

Well, we’ve come to the end of the PIPERVERSE campaign on Inkshares. I see a number of writers here asking for and being granted an extension to their preorder funding period…I won’t be doing that. In the next couple of days, Piperverse will fall out of "Preorder funding" into a "Draft" status and everyone who preordered a book (or three--Thanks, Matt!) will get their money refunded to them.

I was hoping my middle grade science fiction comedy opus would catch a bit more fire back in the Nerdist contest. That was not the case, and afterwards my resolution to keep hitting for one of the publishing goals kinda faltered. Through sweat and miracles the most likely publishing level I might achieve is Quill…the no-frills basic publishing deal, with no editorial or marketing help and no publisher heft in pushing it forward…and I didn’t want that. I’ve been published before, by a small publishing house, and I know the amount of effort needed to push a book when the publisher has little strength, I’m not ready to try to sell a book with no publishing push at all.

SO I’m going to take my book, give it some close, hard re-examining, and figure out what’s next. I have a notion to cut it into two or three separate books and make it a more acceptable length to the middle grade agents and publishers out there (AND give each book more room for illustrations!) We’ll see.

But this campaign has been fun! I had an ABSOLUTE BLAST being part of the Nerdist contest (and plan to enter one of the future Inkshares contests if I find the theme inspiring). I am DEEPLY thankful to all of you who preordered the book and/or helped to get the word out about it. Your kindness and generosity is deeply appreciated. And if any of you are truly disappointed that you won’t be getting a book…drop me a line and I’ll send you an ebook version. I would love all the beta readers and opinions I can get.

So I think the last thing I’ll be doing for Piperverse on Inshares for a while is to load one last sample chapter  -- Chapter 8: Reading, ’Riting, and Rudimentary Xenopsychology (one of my favorites, take a peek!)--and close up shop here for a while.

This is not the end for Piperverse, just another step in the road. Big thanks to all of you for taking it with me.

I’m thankful to the Inkshares staff for making this opportunity possible. And to all you Inshares writers plugging away to get your books published: GO! GO! GO! I envy your energy and hunger and wish you the best of luck.

    Thanks!

    Rhett

Michael Haase liked an update for Not Afraid of the Fall

Friends, Family, Authors and Readers alike,

We have sold more than 100 copies in the last week alone. We have just TWO DAYS left to make this final push to 750 and it is going to to take YOUR help.

I wanted to remind everyone that when you signed on to Inkshares and preordered the book, you got an email titled "You’ve got Credits!"

This email is still in your inbox and if you open it and click the green button titled Claim, you will be able to preorder one more copy of the book for only $5!!

You can give this copy to a friend, family member, neighbor, stranger, loved one or even your boss (I hear promotions are often given after book gifts).

If you guys did this, it would put us over the edge and ensure that this book receives the proper publishing, editing and marketing it needs to succeed!!!

This is our last chance, as I am sure very few of you will be on your computers during this beautiful weekend. What better way to end your week than spending a mere $5 to boost your karma on a friend’s dream ;)

Spread the word and thank you for all the kindness and support through this campaign!

      With nothing but love,

      KJ
