James Rasile liked an update for The Last Faoii

Wow. Two e-mails in one day. Sorry if that bothers you, but I honestly could NOT just leave you all with Chapter 7. I just couldn’t do it.

So Chapter 8 is up! Pieces of the puzzle begin to fall into place during this chapter and you finally get to meet someone very very important... Kaiya’s brother.

What? You didn’t know she had a brother? That’s cool. Neither did she. ;)

Oh, yeah. Also, there’s only 36 days left of the campaign. Is it even possible to get 172 pre-orders in 36 days? Part of me says no, but I want to prove that part wrong. I can with your help.

Take care. Love always,

T

James Rasile liked an update for Tantalus Depths

This week I’d like to use my author spotlight to bring your attention to one of the top-level entrants in the Nerdist competition: Destiny Imperfect.

This book promises to be an absolute mindscrew. The idea of a world where virtual reality and actual reality are so closely intertwined that it’s a challenge just to differentiate between the two is so full of potential. The places this story can explore from a psychological standpoint are endless, and based only on what I’ve seen so far, it looks like Destiny Imperfect is going to throw me into a full-on existential crisis. But in a good way.

Seriously check out this book. I want it on my shelf right now.

      Hi Everyone!

Three quick items I wanted to mention:  First, don’t forget that there’s a backer thank-you party this coming Monday night.  If you plan on coming, please RSVP at the facebook event page so I can get a good head count.  You can find the link here:

      https://www.facebook.com/ItsAllFunandGamesNovel/events

Second, all the preorders have shipped!  If you were a backer, and haven’t received an email with a tracking number, check your spam box.  If there’s nothing there, email hello@inkshares.com  They’ll be able to let you know where your copy or copies are!

It’s super fun seeing everyone posting about having gotten their copies on Facebook!

Lastly, if you’ve read the book and enjoyed it, please consider heading over to Amazon to leave a review.  Amazon’s algorithms take into account the number of reviews received when deciding on "also bought," links and for emails.  I’d love to get up to 100 or so by the time the book releases on August 2.  You can find my product page on Amazon here:

      https://www.amazon.com/Its-All-Games-Dave-Barrett/dp/1941758819?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0

      Thanks again!

James Rasile liked an update for The Zookeeper’s Dilemma

I mentioned that I was going to give a portion of the proceeds from my pre-orders to charity, so I guess I should explain what I meant by that. Some authors will give away free t-shirts, or coffee mugs with their cover art on it. I figure if you’re anything like me, you already have a closet brimming with clothes and a cupboard full of novelty ceramics. You don’t need more stuff that you’ll probably never use.

Instead, I’d like to give back the money that I’d waste on swag to help support those who take care of our animal friends. The highest law among the Ancestor Spirits in my book is the care of their totems, because without them they would be lost and helpless. I decided I couldn’t do any less. I haven’t made a final decision yet, but likely donation candidates are the Humane Society and AWRE. (They can put the money toward updating their website from the nineties.)

Now this is where it gets a little complicated. Because of the way the Inkshares funding structure works, there are three possible scenarios:

        1. The book sells less than 250 pre-orders. – In this case, the book is not published and you are not charged any money. After a good cry, I’ll probably put the book up on Amazon or Smashwords. You can get it there if you’re still interested.
        2. The book sells more than 250 pre-orders, but less than 750. – This makes the book eligible for the ebook-only Quill collection. Inkshares takes the money from the first 250 copies to cover production expenses, but the rest is split 70/30 between me and them.
        • For 250-350 copies, I’ll donate a $100 flat amount.
        • For 300-749 copies, I will give $1 from each book sold after the 250 mark, up to the maximum of $500.
      • The book sell 750 or more pre-orders. – Should the book reach the full publication goal, all the money from the first 750 copies will go toward production costs. (This includes all the editing, marketing, distribution, etc. that goes into publishing a book. I don’t have a problem with this, as it’s all the stuff that most writers hate doing, including myself.) That means, however, that my take from pre-orders goes back to zero at the 750 mark, so:
        • For 750-1000 copies, I’ll donate a flat $500 out of my own pocket because I’ll just be so damned happy that I got published.
        • For more than 1,000 copies, I will give $2 from each book sold after the 750 mark, no maximum.

I hope that makes sense. Honestly, if I could give all the money away, I would, but I still need to do things like eat and pay rent. Also, writing books takes a lot of time, and I need to be able to justify all that work with a paycheck of some kind so I can bring you the sequels.

This offer is for pre-orders only, so you must purchase before October 2, 2016. Also any amount over a few hundred dollars may be delayed pending payment from Inkshares. Proof of donation will be provided by a public posting of receipts.

Even if you can’t afford to order now, your recommendations and reviews help keep this project alive by increasing its visibility. Please follow and share. Thanks and keep reading.

James Rasile liked an update for Destiny Imperfect

          Greetings Destiny-followers,

The end is very much nigh and the contest is getting hot, hot, hot. Friday midnight is the witching hour, and for Destiny Imperfect to remain upon this earthly realm we need to keep ahead of two worthy titles. Right now we are 2nd. This is very good, and this is all thanks to you. But 3rd and 4th are within 6 orders of Destiny’s position. Things are, most definitely, getting tight.

So where to from here? For those of you that have leapt aboard the crazy train that is Destiny Imperfect, the answer is easy. Think of one person that would benefit from the eye-opening, mind-searing, cultural phenomenon that Destiny Imperfect is … errr… destined to be. Take them gently by the hand, ease their way through Inkshares maze and guide them to the pre-order button. The next part is up to them … you can lead a person to Inkshares, but …

For those that are at the Destiny Imperfect  station but have yet to buy a ticket, now would be a very meaningful time to do so. Your pre-order could make the difference between Destiny careening boldly into the future or being stuck at one of the sidings of life. You can be a difference maker, and you can say you were there at the beginning. Do it for Destiny!

          Have a great day!

          Cheers,

          Peter
