Allison Griner created a forum thread: Stepping outside the genre comfort zone
Anyone else have genre they wish they could dive into? Or ones they just press their faces to the glass and long for the right inspiration?

I adore all things futuristic/sci fi-y, but I always get nervous trying to write in that genre. I may try in earnest one day, but I always worry about falling flat by stepping away from my medieval fantasy norm.

So I’m just curious about you guys!

Allison Griner sent an update for Storm Song

Happy Friday, Sailors!

I hope that the week has treated you well. Since our last update, a lot has happened in the Storm Song campaign. But it’s all really exciting stuff!

First and foremost, I wanted to let you know that you can get updates about Storm Song out in the world of social media! I’ll provide links at the bottom of this update for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can share news about the book’s campaign and help me get the word out by liking/commenting/sharing to your heart’s content!

Speaking of getting the word out, you should check this out: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2016/09/prweb13660958.htm

A press release came out this week to discuss the buzz surrounding Storm Song! Feel free to pass it around and share with any of your friends who may need a little more oomph behind your very convincing words.

Outside of the news circuit, I wanted to let everyone know that you can check out the main project page for some new information on Thoster, the land of Elysia, and the different types of magic that are explored in Storm Song. I’ve shifted some things around to give you guys more background information instead of teasing at it. I hope you enjoy it!

And last (but certainly not least!) in the news of Storm Song this week, we have a brilliant new cover design up! I’m so excited about it, and just blown away at how lucky I am to have cultivated a unique networking group by entering this contest.

The cover was designed by another Inkshares author in the top 10 of the contest! Kaytalin Platt is an amazing writer and designer with the world’s biggest heart. Like me, she’s never had her own work published, but she has helped several other authors get their own works out into the world. If there was anyone in this thing that I would love to see in the top 3 with me at the end, it would be Kaytalin. The Living God is one of my favorite pieces in this whole thing.  Platt’s world is impressively developed, and the concept of her story is so intriguing. Telling the story of a character who is born with magic and has it stripped away as punishment (and all of the consequences that brings her) had me drawn in from the very beginning. I highly encourage you guys to go check out the sample chapters and video up on the project’s page and consider pre ordering.

As always, I appreciate everything that you guys have done to help me make this dream a reality. We’re still hanging out in the top 3! I’d love to see us more solidly in 2nd place or even to catch up to take 1st again! This update is a little longer than the usual, but there was just so much to talk about! Thanks for reading. Thanks for supporting me. Thanks for sharing this and grabbing the attention of other people in your life that may want to jump in and help me out. You’re all amazing.
