Just a quick note to say that...drum roll...COPIES OF PROPHECY SHOULD BE SHIPPING OUT SOON!!
You might’ve gotten the email notification already - I know a few people have - so you’ll want to make sure your address is correct, to get your copy!
We’re a bit ahead of schedule, in fact - the official release date was (is still?) August 7 for the paperback, and it’s still August 21 for the ebook to become available at Amazon and other retailers. But the paperbacks could be in your hands as soon as Monday!
Thank you again for all the support - this means so much, and it wouldn’t be happening without all of you. And please come say hi over on my website or on twitter or instagram, for more news and updates and the next book project!
Production schedule update, website, and some news!
The final cover for Prophecy has been submitted and gone through editing, and we’re actually a bit ahead of the estimated production schedule - it looks like we should be shipping books by August 7, instead of the 21st! I’m so excited to see the final version, and to share it with all of you!
Also, I’ve been overhauling and adding lots of new things to my old wordpress site, so come check it out and follow me! There’s a lot - from my other books and stories (mostly romance, mostly paranormal, mostly LGBTQA+), to some bonus scenes and extras and my playlists for stories, to upcoming releases and appearances!
Speaking of upcoming appearances, at the end of the month I’ll be doing a guest blog over on Nicole Field’s blog, all about romance and representation and the upcoming (from Less Than Three Press) polyamory anthology Happiness in Numbers, of which I am a part, so look for that! Also, if you happen to be near Sydney, Australia, I will be there next week for the IASPR conference (that’s the International Association for the Study of Popular Romance), wearing an odd combination of the Romance Writer Hat and the Professor Hat. (Metaphorically speaking. I don’t even really wear hats. Not often, anyway.) I am giving an actual paper, and getting a small amount of travel grant money, so that will be nice. And come say hi if you’re around!
Third, in the category of People Saying Nice Things – Gail Carriger (yes, THAT Gail Carriger!) reviewed my first novel, A Demon for Midwinter, over on Goodreads, and I’ll just quote because I am excited: “I adored this book. It was sweet and charming. …It’s nice to see some solid worldbuilding in a PNR [paranormal romance]….One of those where I spent the second half of the book grinning like an idiot.” So, that’s my day and month and possibly even year made!
I hope you are all having a fabulous day - more soon!
Hi, friends and followers! A quick status update, and some other book news!
The copy-edits for Prophecy have been sent back, so there’s not too much left to do other than final formatting - it sounds like we should be expecting more or less an August release date, unless anything unexpected pops up! And then it’ll all be real...
In other book news, I am officially a published romance author with JMS Books now! If you happen to like tired rock stars, demons with kind hearts, paranormal romance, male/male romance, boys falling in love, classic rock references, or if you just like the things I write - then please come buy A Demon for Midwinter (here’s the Amazon link) and support me! There will also be three bonus stories - the first one, "Lightning in a Bottle," will be out April 28th (so soon! here’s the Amazon link for that too) for FREE, and free stories are always good, right?
And my novella "Port in a Storm" is still available from Less Than Three Press, if you like male/male romance, neighborhood witches, and kitten shapeshifters - there will be a sequel, which I’ve signed the contract for, so look for that too!
Lots of exciting developments - thanks for sharing them all with me! This wouldn’t be happening without all of you.
Just a quick update - things are moving along on the editorial front, and Inkshares just sent me the list of patrons for inclusion, so if you hear from me as far as checking your preferred name/spelling or anything, that’s why!
Also, if you like the things I write, or if you like cat shapeshifters and witches, or if you like gay paranormal fantasy in general, a small self-promotion: - my novella Port in a Storm, from Less Than Three Press, is available here on Amazon! And it is only $1.99, at the moment! The sequel is in the hands of my editor over at LT3, too...
Just checking in - I know it’s been a little while, but for good reasons! Reasons which have occupied some of my time, which I’ll tell you about in a minute!
Prophecy is hanging out in the editorial pipeline, over here - everything’s submitted and turned in, just waiting...
Here’s the OTHER news:
1) if you like romance (especially of the LGBTQ+ kind), urban fantasy, cats, witches, and hot chocolate - my novella Port in a Storm is available as of TONIGHT from Less Than Three Press! You can buy it here, and then come and have all the feelings about David and Colin with me! There will also be at least one sequel...
2) I have also signed a contract with JMS Books for the thing I’ve been affectionately referring to as the Midwinter Demon Book, and that will be out in paperback AND digital formats in March! *screams and runs around happily* There will be musicians! M/M romance! Demons! Pizza! Rescuing of babies! Rock and roll!
3) I have ALSO signed a contract for an academic book about the wonderful and sorely missed Terry Pratchett, which will be out from McFarland in 2018!
So it’s been a busy few months, over here. But thanks for sticking with me, and I hope you’re having a lovely December, all of you, full of joyfulness!
I like writing with soundtracks, or at least certain songs and music in mind. So I thought I’d share my mental playlist for Prophecy:
David Bowie, "Heroes" (the working title for this story came from this song!)
Journey, "Only The Young" (Oliver would be a classic rock fan)
Katy Perry, "Teenage Dream" (because, let’s face it, in the modern-day alternate-universe version of this story, Tir would totally dance around singing this in his bedroom)
Pansy Division, "Who Treats You Right" (because Pansy Division had to be somewhere on this list, given the genre, and because both Tir and Oliver would be vastly amused by most of their less safe-for-work songs)
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, "Maps" (for when they set off on the Quest: "wait, they don’t love you like I love you...")
The Shins, "Simple Song" (Ollie and Tir both like indie rock, too; they hang out with Ollie’s art-student friends a lot)
ABBA, "Waterloo" (for probably obvious reasons having to do with love and the knowledge of a prophecy and also I think Tir would be an ABBA fan, don’t you?)
My Chemical Romance, "Summertime" (as a backdrop for a certain climactic scene)
Queen, "You’re My Best Friend" (also probably obvious, but I couldn’t resist: "ooh, you make me live...")
Tegan & Sara, "Love They Say" ("you don’t need to wonder / if love will make us stronger / there’s nothing love can’t do...")
Hi, all!
Since we’ve got some time while Prophecy moves into production, I decided to write and include a bonus short story to go with it, for one of the secondary characters! I hope you’ll like it; I had fun getting to play in this kingdom some more! Which character is it for, you’re wondering? Well - any guesses? ;-)
A thank-you, and a bonus scene!
More specifically, first, THANK YOU to everyone! You should be getting your copies very soon, if not already - Inkshares has begun shipping them out! The ebook and the paperback will also be available on Amazon as of August 21 - so you can acquire more copies for you or someone else!
Just a quick note - reviews and ratings and recommendations really do matter, so I’d love it if you could do that, whether on Amazon or Goodreads or anyplace else you hang out! Of course it’s absolutely helpful for authors (especially new ones!) as far as visibility, but it’s also great for fellow readers, introducing them to books and stories. So, thank you!
And I’ve promised you a bonus scene! It is available for free on my website, right here, with the other book trivia for Prophecy - it does contain spoilers, though, so make sure you’ve finished the book first! It’s set very slightly in the future, and it’s from Tir’s point of view...
Feel free to poke around the website, too - you can find all the other things that I’ve published and things that are coming soon, like my paranormal m/m romance from JMS Books, or the reissue of my older m/m contemporary erotica, out this month - or the upcoming polyamory anthology from Less Than Three Press, for which I am writing about a triad of superheroes (well, one superhero, one former sidekick, and one redeemed former villain) in love, and also garlic bread.
Thank you again, and I hope you’re enjoying Prophecy!
