So Chapter 20 is up now and it gets into more of Mike’s background. It’s a good read so, you know, check it out. There’s only 5 more sample chapters left, which will mark the halfway point of the book. I don’t know if I’ll open up preorders right after Chapter 25 goes up, as far as gaining followers I think I may have only gotten 1 since the last run at preorders I made. So, you know, any advice on the book or ways to do publicity are welcome.
I finished up the first draft of my competition short story today so tomorrow I’m going back to work on the outline for Price Of A Bullet. I’ve got two outlines for it, one that’s primarily focused on Mike and one that’s more far ranging. So tomorrow will be spent assessing whether or not to go back to the older, halfway done, outline or to stick with the new one. It wouldn’t be too hard to integrate the important stuff from the newer outline into the older one because the older one was already designed to carry a lot of what went into the new one. The break I took, to write up my competition story, has given me a feeling like I’ll have a fresh out look on the outlines so we’ll see what happens.
Thanks for following and I’ll see you later!
Okay so I missed Friday again so I think I’m going to forget the whole Friday thing and just say every weekend, somewhere between Friday and Monday you’ll get a new chapter. You folks are the closest thing I have to beta readers so, as I’ve said before, tell me what you think and I’ll rework it otherwise I’m assuming you all think this is the second coming of Hemingway. ;)
Anyway my short story side project is nearly done, in a first draft, so if everything goes well this weekend I should be getting back to the Price Of A Bullet outline very soon.
Also, there’s bunch of yo following this so why not go over to my other project, The Agoge, and check it out. Or don’t it’s up to you but it’s a fun little diddy if I do say so myself. I’m also up on Twitter at @Col_Shaggy. I don’t really know what I’m doing there because well I’m an idiot and I’m old. Maketh of that what thy will.
So things have been crazy and I missed at least one Friday update, probably two, so here’s the next two. I’ve said it before but, the book is done so I’m not procrastinating on writing. Once I get a good follower count, or we hit Chapter 25, I’m going to open up the preorders again and hopefully get this thing funded. This time around, though, will be the last attempt I make at it here with Battle Flag so anybody you can bring in would help immensely. If it fails again I’ll start looking at other publishing venues like Amazon or Createspace or I may save up and self publish but I really want to get it going on Inkshares because I like the idea of the preorder model being applied to a series if I can bring other authors into it.
The Price Of A Bullet, aka Book 2, is still in a bit of an outline limbo. Part of it was because it was getting kind of dark and I wanted to take a break and work on something lighter and funnier. The other part is the motivation just gets sucked away when the feeling that nobody wants to read the first book comes over me. It’s probably just all in my head but hey we’re artists, we’re supposed to be tortured. Right?
So I missed another Friday update so I sent out two chapters to make up for it. 15 gets into some of the human race’s history, and why Earth never shows up in the series, as well as some pretty important parts of Mike’s history as he is chosen for an investigation team. 16 is back, from the first round of sample chapters, and is some of the strongest writing I think I’ve ever done. It is the culmination of Camus’ angst and disaffection with her profession. So check them out and let me know what you think.
The outline for The Price Of A Bullet, AKA the sequel, is sort of on hold at the moment. It was getting into kind of a dark place, which it’s meant to do. But I felt like I needed a break to work on a short story that’s sort of ridiculous and derivative, which is what the short is meant to be. Hey maybe if we hit a hundred followers here I’ll let you all read it.
Anyway, have a great weekend and I hope to see you again next Friday.
IT’S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!
So it’s been a busy couple of weeks. I started a new short story, had to clean out a trailer full of mouse crap, and I was Vegas last weekend for the NASCAR race, consequently, I missed last week’s update and I apologize. To make up for it I’ve brought up the next TWO chapters of the book.
I was feeling a little burned out trying to outline this book’s sequel while trying to get more people to take a look at it so I decided to start up a short story that is completely different and more than a little absurd, I needed a laugh. Anyway, from here on out there’s no more planned vacations and so, hopefully, I won’t forget the next Friday update. As always I’m looking for your feedback so DM me or drop a critique in one of the chapters and, if you like what you see, please please put out some recommendations for me. I mean, I could do it, but recommending my own book would look a little arrogant don’t you think?
Sorry I missed the Friday update, birthday stuff, you know getting older and all of that, but Chapter 12 is up now and ready to read. Enjoy!
BANKRUPTCY!!!!!! Okay not really, it’s just Chapter Eleven posted for your enjoyment. I’m sorry that I missed last Friday’s update, at least I think I did, so here is the next chapter on a Monday for you. Chapter twelve will still come up this coming Friday, as long as I don’t forget, but if I do I’ll definitely try to hit the following Monday.
It’s kind of feeling like I’m preaching to an empty room here so don’t be shy with comments.
Chapter ten is up and I hope all of you enjoy it. I’m still open to hearing from anybody with any complaints or compliments you may have. The follower count is still sitting at 38 so any help drawing folks into the project would be much appreciated but, as always, not expected. I hope you’re enjoying the chapters and if not maybe check out my other book The Agoge and see if it’s more your style.
The sequel is plugging along slowly but surely.
Other than that I’m not sure what else to say other than have a great weekend!
So Chapter nine is up and the good news is that I’ve got sample chapters isolated and ready to upload all the way to the book’s midpoint, so there shouldn’t be any more hiccups in updates.
Unless that Oompa Loopa saboteur hits me on the head again and I forget.
The outline for The Price Of A Bullet seems to be progressing more quickly now that I’m focusing on Jovanne’s chapters first. The historical chapters are meant to be an historical war diary mixed with a sort of Art Of War style book. Any good book suggestions, within those styles of literature, would be welcome to help me gear up for the historical chapters.
As always, thanks for following me.
Well Chapter 21 is up and I think that this Monday thing is becoming disturbingly common. Anyway four more to go before decision time.
I’ve looked through the two outlines for TPOB and decided to keep them split up. A big part of this decision is because I look at The Road To Hell and I feel like it’s a little bloated. That’s mainly due to the fact that TRTH has to setup a lot of characters and information to establish the series and, while I hope to set this up so that other authors can kick in stories, I know that those big plans may never come to fruition and I’m going to be moving forward for quite awhile before I go back. What? You got a problem with that? Okay then let me know. :)
Anyway, thanks for following and I’ll catch you next weekend.
