Congratulations on a great read! I really enjoyed this and look forward to finding out what happens next. Nice of Elon Musk to be helping you advertise your book!

Good news! First on Mars just blew past 50 pre-orders! This means it’s 20% of the way to 250 and getting published!

Other good news! Once again, my very talented sister, Marylyn, has helped me out and made a new cover for the book. I love how it turned out.

The contest is almost over and my goal is now just to finish as high as possible. If you have not already done so, please recommend this project to anyone you think might be interested.

Also, you have only one week (until May 16) to make a review and be entered to win a free shirt. So please leave a review. Thank you all for the support!

(PS. The Inkshares blog will have a new post soon... hint, hint)

Hello again!

I wanted to let everyone know I’ve updated the first two chapters. It’s not the final form that will appear in the book, but the basic story is there. Thank you to all those who provided feedback. I am truly grateful for your help. Every form of feedback helps make this a better book. For those of you still on the fence, please take a second look.

A special thanks to Steven Cook and Peter Ryan who pre-ordered today!

PS. In Mars news, Elon Musk announced that SpaceX plans to launch a Dragon to Mars in 2018!

NEWS!

First on Mars has been featured over at The Warbler! Go check it out and spread the word.

Also, the Inkshares blog has a new post in which I talk about ET.

My very talented sister, Marylyn, has made some very cool, exclusive designs for "First on Mars" backers. Here they are:

Hello all! I have some good news!

Actually a lot of news. I’m cramming it all in one message because I don’t want to send out too many emails!

 1. In case you missed it, First on Mars now has a video! I’ve also added some images (topography of Hellas Basin and Spectral analysis of Mars).

 2. I’m happy to report that "First on Mars" has been featured on The Inkshares Blog along with the other top 10 books! It covers what inspired me to start writing about Mars and the science behind it.

 3. I’m announcing my intention to donate $1 for every pre-order of First on Mars to the AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention)

 4. I’ve added a bit more about Kurt to chapter one (In case you haven’t noticed this book is still a work in progress).

 5. Also, I wanted to clear up the first line of the book (in case you did not get the reference): Aditya is quoting Oppenheimer quoting the Bhagavad Gita

 6. Lastly, I want to plug Michael Sebby’s book (he only has 16 days left)  The Inhabitants: An Unremembered Life It’s an interesting sci-fi thriller reminiscent of Inception.

That’s it for now.

Until next time, -Landon

Hello all!

Things are going great! Firstly I want to announce that I’ve completely redone the book’s landing page. It was in really rough shape so I’ve spent some time sprucing it up, putting the book blurb first and making it sound more professional.

Secondly, you’ll be pleased to know that the first 50 paperback copies are getting a custom designed sticker to go with their book! It’s a mission patch for PHOENIX 5 designed by yours truly. Here it is:

Already sixteen paperback copies have been ordered so that leaves 34 copies to go (I reserve the right to retroactively add perks like this at any time) !

Thirdly, if you’ve already pre-ordered the book, you are entitled to the first FOUR, yes 4, draft chapters of the book! Please contact me to get them in PDF format. Just email Landon.Trine at gmail.com and tell me which great person you are! (If you’re wondering what the heck FF stands for, it’s all explained in chapter 4).

Fourthly, I completely finished the video but then I realized it’s just not good enough so I’m going to redo it. Then I redid part of it and it sounded really out of place. Recording is much harder than it looks. Then I got some unbiased feedback and realized I’m doing it all wrong (it’s all about me but it should be about the book!) So the video is coming, don’t worry.

Until next time, Landon

Hello all!

Things are going great!

I’m happy report that, thanks to your support, First on Mars is currently in fourth place in the contest! I’d like to thank the excellent Joanna Lynn Brosius Chaplin for leaving the first review! I take it as a huge compliment.

First on Mars is facing some excellent competition, and there’s still one month left in the contest, so there’s a of work to do. You can help by recommending or leaving a review (there’s a banner on the bottom of the page while you’re reading the draft). You can also just highlight some text that you really like. I’m really excited about this project and I hope you are too.

Lastly, if you’re new to Inkshares and looking for other books to order/pre-order, here are some to look at (I could list many more, but that’s it for now):

 Thanks again!

I’ve been craving optimistic near-future pro-science scifi, especially regarding space exploration.  And your book looks like it has a setting somewhat like that of The Martian, which I loved in book and movie format, both.  But it looks enough different than The Martian not to be a straight-up copy cat, which I appreciate.  So yeah, sign me up!

Hello all!

Things are going great!

First on Mars only needs eight more readers to reach third place in the contest! If you are following, but have not yet pre-ordered, please pre-order today. I would be so grateful!

I’m currently working on a short video to put up that talks about what inspired me to write this book, but it’s not ready. Meanwhile here’s a link to my pinterest page I use for inspiration (maybe you’ll guess a plot point from this, maybe not): https://www.pinterest.com/landontrine/first-to-mars-reference/

And here’s a tease from the next chapter:

“Thank you, Rigel, that’s enough,” Kurt huffed out while running down the tunnel to the hab. When he arrived inside the hab, he checked to make sure everyone was present. Only two were missing. “Where are Phoebe and Rin?” he shouted.

All, thank you for the support! Things have been progressing well...

"First on Mars" is now entered in the Geek & Sundry hard science-fiction contest which starts today! The top three books in the contest by May 16th will get the full publishing treatment. Please support First on Mars and help bring this Mars mission to life!
