Mljet, Croatia

"We zoomed down the mountain on our moped into Prozura, the small fishing town nestled comfortably on the banks of a cove surrounded by islands. Upon arriving into the village, the road that dually served as a sidewalk, quickly turned into one lane. I felt like I was in a video game as I weaved past street vendors, fishermen hauling their daily catch, parked cars that looked like they were from the 80’s and waitresses walking between their cafes and the patio seating on the water. I sped under a fortress-like arch made of stone and skidded to a halt outside of the last cafe in the village. Call me Bond, (Kyle) James Bond."

31 DAYS GUYS. WE CAN DEFINITELY DO THIS!

Check out the "Not Afraid of the Fall" Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/notafraidofthefall/) to see the video clip that accompanies this excerpt from the book:

"Jumping for the first time is scary. I wasn’t afraid of landing on anything. The water that resembled blue Gatorade was clearly twenty feet deep. I also wasn’t afraid of drowning. I am not a great swimmer, but I am a magnificent water-treader. What scared me was the fall itself. I was afraid of jumping because as soon as I left the familiarity of my rock, I was no longer in control. I couldn’t decide that I preferred the comfort of my rock halfway to the sea and turn back. It was all or nothing. Gravity would take over and whether I was ready or not, I would be seeing my rock from a different perspective. Despite the fear of the unknown, I decided I had spent enough time on this rock and jumped. When gravity introduced me to the Adriatic, she welcomed me with open arms."

P.S. - For those of you not counting  at home, we only have 40 days left to reach the 750 preording goal! This means we need all hands on deck! Please share this with your friends, colleagues and family to spread the word!

I know we can do this. After all, they don’t call it March Madness for nothing.

When I initially decided to write Not Afraid of the Fall, it was fueled by both competition and fear. I grew up in a community of overachievers and highly successful people. Many of my closest friends own companies, restaurants and nonprofits. Many are studying to be lawyers, doctors and coaches.  My girlfriend is an strong women, who dedicates her to time to molding the minds of children to be successful. My Dad is a CMO for a global IT company and my mom founded her own pharmaceutical safety company. My sister earned her masters in social work while studying in New Zealand and is helping refugees find homes My brother in-law is a consultant with two masters and speaks more languages than I care to comment on, and my brother found his true calling in life as a chef.

I spent many sleepless nights in Europe laying awake fearing that I would never reach the level of success of those around me. What could I do to equal these successes? I convinced myself that if I wrote a book, I would be successful. I would have achieved something substantial. I could compete.

What I didn’t realize until the end of the journey was that it wasn’t the outcome of a book I needed, it was the process of writing it. By allowing my thoughts, feelings and views on life to spill chaotically into my journal every day, I was self-medicating. I realized that I just happened be surrounded by amazing people. I am so lucky to be able to call these people my friends and family.

Writing this book saved my life. Not in the literal sense that I would have died if I didn’t write it, but in the sense that it allowed me to really start living. I no longer quantified my own self-worth by comparing my life to others. My goal for this book is to help any of those that are struggling with the same issues to reach their own peace.

Kyle, your storytelling ability makes it feel like you’re sitting in the room spinning this yarn about your adventures abroad. Great stuff!

This book looks really good. The first chapter is about a place that I have always wanted to go, so I can have a chance to learn about it more. Thank you for recommending this book to me. Can't wait to read.

Hello Everyone!

Wow, the holidays sure did fly by this year didn't they? One minute I was eating five meals a day to train my stomach for the onslaught of Thanksgiving (It takes dedication), the next  I am trying to find space in my house for the sweaters my grandma gave me for Christmas.

I wanted to share some exciting news with my "Not Afraid of the Fall" family! We have reached the 250 preorder mark and are 1/3 of the way to 750!! I cannot thank you enough for your support. By preordering this book, you are helping me reach a dream of mine and I cannot wait for you to read about the many successes and mishaps of our journey. From moped crashes in multiple continents, to Buddhist rituals performed on us from 90 year old Shamans, you are in for quite a journey.

I am getting a bit ahead of myself here...we still have a long  way to go to reach 750 preorders. I still need your help spreading the word and sharing the book with friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, mailmen and pets (Animals use wifi by now right? I saw both a dog surfing and an elephant painting on Facebook yesterday. If they aren't preordering books yet I would be amazed...)

Just think, if everyone reading this shared the book with just TWO people, we would reach our goal of 750! (I know I know... but this type of math helps me sleep at night).

LASTLY, (I am sure only 32% of you have made is this far) remember to let people know that when creating an account on Inkshares, they receive a $5 credit towards any book. This makes the price of an E-book only $5!!

You guys really are amazing people for supporting an aspiring writer. Not to mention, what better way to start off a new year than to build your 401-Karma account.

Cheers my friends,

Kyle James
