TOP 10 TOP 10 YEAH!! Awesome job, totally deserved! Keep it up, lady. :)

Very exciting news in this rare (oh so rare) readers update! As of a few minutes ago, The Fable Hunt made it into the Top 10 of the Nerdist Contest!

We're only a few readers (okay 1 reader) above the book 11th place, but it's still very exciting! The contest has 7 more days to go, and I'm feeling a new sense of enthusiasm. Here's where I am in terms of other awesome The Fable Hunt related things:

  •  Chapter Four will be teased in a very special blog post on Monday over on ArtBooksCoffee
  • Chapter Four will then be posted in its entirety on Tuesday
  • The Fable Hunt has a new cover! It's so pretty! Look at it in that picture! It's also very special because it was made for me by another Inkshares/Nerdist contestant Amanda Orneck. Please go check out her book!

It would be awesome to continue climbing the ranks of the contest but I need your help. Please ask someone you know to pre-purchase a copy (or ten I'm not picky). Here's a sample email you could send and a sample tweet you could use to share it with your followers on social media if you're feeling particularly generous.

Sample e-mail:

Hi Friend! I know you love to read, and I have a great book for you to check out. The Fable Hunt is about a couple of readers and a couple of book fairies trying to save the very future of literature and storytelling. Go read the first couple pages on Inkshares, and pre-order a copy if you like what you see. The Fable Hunt is part of a contest to win publication and distribution from Inkshares and Nerdist.com, and every pre-order counts towards the goal. Please give it a shot!

Sample tweet:

. @bookoisseur's The Fable Hunt is available for pre-order! There are book fairies in it & YOU should buy one. https://www.inkshares.com/projects/the-fable-hunt

Thanks so much for all your support! I can't wait to share the next chapter with you all!

Congrats on reaching 100!

Good morning readers, followers, friends and family!

It's been nearly a month since I posted the first chapter of The Fable Hunt, and I'm so happy to see and hear that you all are excited about my little book. I'm not in the leaderboard of the Nerdist contest (yet) but remain hopeful that I'll sell another couple hundred of books before the contest technically ends Sept. 30th. I hope you'll share your referral link with your friends and family and encourage them to pre-order a copy!

I'm not really planning on posting a fourth chapter for a while, but I wanted to introduce you early supporters to another fairy in my world. She will make her appearance soon and is very different from little Learid. Here's a snippet:

I hunkered down in front of my laptop to write the carnival article that was now almost due and still had a lot of work to be done on it. It was an hour before I stopped to stretch and jumped out of my skin upon noticing my audience. An unfamiliar fairy was perched on the edge of my almost unused pencil cup, one hand under its chin and a knobby elbow resting on a knobby knee.

This was not the fairy I was familiar with seeing propped against my things. This fairy was lighter in color like a willow branch and with shades of green worked over its skin rather than purple. When its little mouth opened, the voice was soft and feminine in tone if not in meaning.

“Learid told us you were observant. I have been stalking you for twenty minutes, and you did not notice. He was wrong.” She was matter of fact and sharp. Clearly I was not the impressive creature she had expected.

Again thank you so much for your support! Please continue to share The Fable Hunt and help me get as many pre-orders as possible.

Rachael

All, thank you for your support! Things have been progressing well...when I sit down to do the writing, words actually do manage to make it from my head to the screen which I'm taking as a good sign.

I've added another chapter to the tease here, and I hope that you'll take a few minutes and give it a read. It is always great to hear if you like something or don't - or, if you're like one of my readers (hi Dad) you can totally send me some editorial feedback.

While I continue to write, I hope you'll take 10 seconds and share my project with your nearest and dearest and ask them to pledge for a copy. It's pretty affordable in the long run, and eventually I'll have to pre-sell at least 750 of these to be successful and even more to get publish-published. Every little bit helps.

I'm definitely planning on keeping these updates few and far between. In the next, you can expect an artistic rendering of Learid because I have incredibly talented friends who draw. Look forward to it!
