It’s here! I’m pleased to release the official cover of Welcome to Deadland! I hope you all love it and can’t wait for you to be able to hold it in your hands and dive into it’s pages! I’d like to thank David Drummond for his design work, the awesome folks over at Nerdist, Inkshares, and Girl Friday for their help and input reaching this monumental step! This was a great group effort!

Thank you all for your support! Only a few more months to go!

Happy Saturday!

I know it’s been a while since I’ve sent an update, and I hope most of you are out enjoying the beautiful spring weather.

I wanted to let everyone know that a final cover has been decided on, and is being finalized before I can release it for you all to see! Developmental editing is complete, and I’m halfway through my copyedits right now. If you visit Welcome to Deadland’s Inkshares page you can see the production schedule off to the righthand side that keeps you up to date with where we are in the process.

Although WtD isn’t 100% complete yet, while it’s been with the editors I’ve been able to get to work on the sequel. I have a rough outline, and roughly 10,000 words down. The story takes off like a bullet and I’m really excited with how it’s opening and where it’s going, and once you all finish Welcome to Deadland you can rest assured that the momentum won’t be slowing down.

Have a great weekend, thank you all for your support, and the next time you hear from me it’ll be with the finalized cover!

-Zac

Hello Readers!

I wanted to give everyone a quick update to let you know how Welcome To Deadland is coming along! Three exciting things happened this week. First, I received preliminary concept covers. It was surreal looking over the covers and talking with the awesome team from Inkshares, Nerdist, and Girl Friday about which covers we liked and the direction we want to go. I can't wait to have it all finalized so I can share it with the rest of you!

The second thing that happened was I turned in the next draft of the manuscript. A few weeks ago I received notes from my developmental editor, and I've been working diligently to improve the story and the characters. I'm extremely proud of how everything is coming together, and I don't know how to thank everyone working on this project enough for the long hours they're putting in to bring my dream to life.

And the third thing, Inkshares and Nerdist are partnering for another contest! If you've written a space opera, or are currently writing one, you can find all of the details here. This is an amazing opportunity, and if you're nervous about the idea of entering, I urge you to take the plunge and go for it. I was hesitant about entering the first Nerdist contest, and now my book is being published as part of their collection and I've made several genuine friendships with other authors.

As always, thank you all so much for your continued support, and feel free to contact me through Twitter or Welcome To Deadland's Facebook Page!

Thank you all,
-Zac

Long time no update Zac!  How's things?

Hello Readers!

I wanted to drop in and give a quick update on Welcome to Deadland! I've had the pleasure of meeting my Production Editor from Girl Friday Productions, as well as my Developmental Editor. We're diving in headfirst, and the next few months are going to be a whirlwind of hard work and collaboration until Deadland is poked and prodded into perfect shape. Stay on the lookout for updates as we continue to progress further toward the finish line!

As some of you already know, Inkshares and Sword & Laser are currently hosting another contest, and I highly recommend The Animal in Man by Joseph Asphahani. I've placed my pre-order and I encourage my readers to check it out and do the same.

Also:

Get ready for the inaugural Inkshares Review-a-Thon, an independent event, organized by Inkshares authors!

On December 19th, all authors and readers are invited to leave reviews on currently funding Inkshares books using the Inkshares “leave a review” option.

Throughout the day we’ll be hanging out on Twitter in the #InksharesReviews tag as we share our favorite book projects, answer author Q&As, debate the merits of astronauts with swords versus cavemen with lasers, and much, much more!

From 6 - 8pm ET, JF Dubeau and Paul ‘such a nerd’ Inman will be hosting a Google+ Hangout livestream filled with author interviews, review readings, and live announcements of prize winners!

Everyone who leaves a review on December 19th by 6pm ET will be eligible to win fantastic general prizes:

-Sword & Laser Contest Winners Package - print copies of the six winning books from the Sword & Laser Inkshares contest!

-Nerdist Contest Winners Package - print copies of the five winning books from the Nerdist Inkshares contest!

-An immediate pre-order of the book of their choice for five winners!

-$30 in Inkshares credits!

Readers: Peruse the “currently funding” books on Inkshares and leave as many reviews as you want. You could even start up a “must-have” list of books to order in case you win a free pre-order or the $30 in credits!

Authors: Join our review exchange to leave three reviews in exchange for two guaranteed reviews on your Inkshares project and a chance at author-exclusive prizes!

Woot!  Congrats, Zac!  Now the real fun begins! ;)

Hello Readers!

Just wanted to send out a quick update and let everyone know that as of a few moments ago my manuscript for Welcome To Deadland and paperwork have been turned in! There will be rounds of both developmental and copy editing on the manuscript, and with some tender loving care it will be brought to the next level and one step closer to your hands.

Thank you all for your support and for embarking on this journey with me. I really could not have done it without you.

-Zac

P.S. If you haven't already done so, here's a link to 'like' Welcome To Deadland on Facebook! I'll keep you all updated through Inkshares, but it's another way to catch updates and post comments! Thank you all again.

It's been a while since I've sent out a Reader Update. Just wanted to drop a line and tell everyone where I'm at. After moving and a prescheduled vacation (where I got to hang out with fellow Inkshares author Rick Heinz, go check out The Seventh Age: Dawn if you haven't already. Seriously.) I got back to work and focused on editing. I've just completed a revision of the manuscript for Welcome To Deadland. I will be turning paperwork and the manuscript in to Inkshares very soon, December 1st, and from there on out a team will be hard at work bringing Welcome To Deadland to life and into your hands.

In the meantime, make sure to check out additional books on Inkshares, both funding and in-production. This company has helped me achieve an amazing opportunity, as have other authors working on their own campaigns. Other book suggestions include:

These Old Bones by Andrew J. Ainsworth

Blood Dawn by John Robin (he requests readers wait until Monday, the 16th, to place orders)

A Beast Requires by Jay Lockwood

Thank you all again,

-Zac
