So, this update is a day late...but there's a pretty great reason for that.

We did it. We got there. Ghosts of War's funding campaign is finished and it is now a part of the Quill Collection at Inkshares.

I couldn't have gotten Ghosts to this point without the help of those who backed it during it's run, and for that I'll be forever grateful. I really can't thank you all enough.

In closing, I think this sums up my feelings about today...

Hey guys and gals,

Firstly an apology. I'm not exactly sure where the last 7 weeks have gone to, but things have been a bit all over the place and a lot of stuff has gone by the wayside. As such there hasn't been an update for a while. Well it's now a new year, and with it comes a new focus on getting this book done and out to all of you. So, on with the update.

Writing update
As I said above, a lot of stuff has gone by the wayside lately, finding time for writing has been one of those things. This year I'm attacking writing from the angle of it being a Monday to Friday job, with a minimum of 1,000 a day to be written each weekday. So provided I don't add another couple of chapters, the first draft will be done in the next couple of weeks. This is a handy thing too, because:

Campaign Update
As of this writing there are only 5 days left in Ghost of War's funding campaign and we're currently sitting at 292 copies sold which is great. Beyond great in fact. In actuality it's miles beyond what I could have hoped for when I set out to do this.

I could extend and shoot for 750 copies sold, but with the recent rate of sales (11 copies sold since the 29th of October), the amount of time I'd have to extend wouldn't be worth it. So I'm sticking with the original end date and I'd imagine, with the work left to do on the book, that it will be getting to you in the second half of 2016.

Other Updates

Cover Art - Since Ghosts will be a Quill book, I have to provide the cover art. So I'm currently exploring a few other options in case I (or Inkshares) decide that the current cover doesn't work for whatever reason. I'll keep you all posted with progress on that front.

Sequels - I've been continuing plotting out the sequels to Ghosts over the christmas break (other than Star Wars it's about the only thing I could focus on) and they're starting to take shape. The third book had been especially nebulous for a long time but is really beginning to come together.

Well, I think that will do for now. I plan to get back to doing weekly updates, especially now that things will be ramping up a bit. Look for them on or around Sunday's from now on.

Until next time.

PS: If you haven't ordered a copy of Ghosts of War yet, there's still time to do so and get yourself a signed first edition copy.

Action, Adventures, and Intriguing Sci-Fi Warfare. Ghosts of War has it all and Robinson delivers it with great writing. I'm very excited to get my copy!

So I have some news.

After a lot of thought I have switched the format of Ghosts of War from hardcover to paperback. This was done for several reasons, chief among them being the cost.

It's now $20 for the paperback of Ghosts of War for new backers, with free US shipping and $15 International shipping.

Now for those Internationals, you may not want to pay the $15 in shipping for the paperback, but fret not! Inkshares has implemented an awesome new tier that's just for an ebook. You'll find it labelled 'Recruit' on the Ghosts of War project page.

The price for a single ebook is $10, and of course there's no delivery charge. So if you've been hesitant due to the postage, now there's an option just for you.

Lastly, a bit of an update on the writing front: NaNoWriMo 2015 is going along well. I'm about a day behind on word count, sitting somewhere around 23,500 words. I'd like to say all that's fully developed prose, but a good chunk of it is my rewritten outlines for the remaining chapters and some for book 2.

I know you're not supposed to count outlines for NaNo, but what can I say, I'm a rebel.

Greetings good people.

It's been a busy week so I'll keep this update short.

Campaign - The new Inkshares model switched over at the start of the month, so it's now official: Ghosts of War is getting published. We've cleared the light publishing goal, so the next target is 750 copies. I realise with the price increases that it's going to be quite a task to get there in the next 44 days, but stay tuned, there might be a small bit of relief coming on that front in the next week or so.

Ghosts & NaNoWriMo - I'm participating in NaNo this year and using it to finish up Ghosts, plan out the sequels and maybe even make a start on book two if there's time. I'm currently closing in on 8,000 words written in 6 days, so I'm about 2,000 words off the pace, but there's plenty of time to make it up.

In closing, here's a behind the scenes look at me working during the month of November.

Look! It's a pre-Friday update!

Not long to go now until the $9.99 + free shipping price point ends.

Check the link below for your local time for the deadline.

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20151030T12&p1=224

There's still 140 followers of Ghosts yet to preorder, and if any of you are still considering grabbing a copy, I don't want you to miss out on the cheapest price.

After the deadline the minimum price for a copy (shipping included) will be $20 for US orders and $35 for international orders.

So if you still want to support me and my book, now is the time.

Speaking of the book: Writing is still chugging along, though the excitement of finding out it's going to be published and making these last pushes for the $9.99 price has hampered efforts a little.

But NaNoWriMo 2015 starts November 1st, so from then on I'll be writing at least 1,600 words a day for a whole month, so it'll get done.

Until next time.

Congratulations! Turns out it was all worth it, right? Looking forward to getting my copy of Ghosts of War, Paul!

Ladies and gentle men, I come to you with some good news, nay....great news.

Ghosts of War is getting published by Inkshares.

How can this be you ask? Well, today Jeremy Thomas (Inkshares' CEO) announced some changes to the way Inkshares will work going forward and the changes mean only good things for Ghosts of War

You can read the full blog post about the changes here, and I recommend that you do: http://blog.inkshares.com/post/131749557025/inkshares-funding-goal-announcement

But these are the most important points for right now:

  • Since it is over 250 copies sold, Ghosts of War qualifies for Inkshares' new 'light publishing' option. This is what Inkshares has to say about the new option:

Any project that reaches 250 pre-orders will qualify for the “light-publishing” option with a new, yet-to-be-named Inkshares collection. These books will receive a light edit, an ISBN, and limited distribution (including physical and digital on Amazon.com). Backers will receive physical copies printed through our print-on-demand service. We will reserve the right to push any of these books through our full production process, and as with all of our books, the rights will remain non-exclusive if the author wishes to publish elsewhere.

So that's pretty awesome, but there is a small catch: After October 30th the pre-order prices are going up.

  • From then, it'll be $20 for a paperback and $30 for a hardcover.
  • There will also be a $15 International shipping fee. US shipping will remain free.

Now this bit is all in bold because it's the most important of important things.

If you pre-order a copy of 'Ghosts of War' before October 30 (or have previously pre-ordered a copy), you will still get it for $9.99 with free shipping.

Any copies ordered after that will cost more, so if you've been on the fence about it, please, dive in, especially those of you who are in Australia or other non-US countries. Right now is when you can get the best deal.

In closing, I want to thank every one of you who's ordered a copy so far, you got me here and it's because of you that Ghosts of War is getting published. I can't thank you all enough.

I think it's going to take a while to sink in that this is really happening, but until then...we can have a party.

250 PRE-ORDER HIGH FIVE!!!
Short update again this week. Star Wars themed, due to the very exciting week of Star Wars-y things going on.

Campaign Progress: We passed 250 copies ordered this week. My feelings on this are thus:

The next big milestone is 350 copies (50% of the eBook goal), so if you haven't grabbed a copy yet, I'd like to urge you to do so, or get some friends or colleagues to.

Every copy helps.

Book Progress: Chugging along. Nearing completion of a new chapter, though my October 31st deadline is looming large. My feelings on this are thus:

(I'm Finn with the blue lightsaber in this instance, the deadline is Kylo Ren)

But fear not (it does lead to the dark side after all), there will be a first draft in some shape or form on October 31. Then edits and revisions will continue during November.

Also, looking ahead, there's been some continued development of story ideas for the sequel to Ghosts of War and it's going in some cool directions. Obviously it's far too early to mention anything just yet, but preliminary work is underway.

Until next time.
