Hello My Lovelies,

Very happy to see you.

If you’re following Murder Happens, your support is very much appreciated.

If you’ve shown your commitment to support the project with a pre-order, I am eternally grateful.

Remember, Dean has your back.

Murder Happens is currently in 4th place in the Horror 2017 Contest.

Would like to jockey into 3rd place and ride the beast home.

Hope you will join me.

Received some fine reviews on the chapters posted here. My editor caught wind of them.

“Needs work,” she said. She’s a tough cookie.

Working on the revisions and looking forward to writing time on the manuscript.

78 days and counting.

Please reach out to me for anything that’s on your mind. Love to hear from you.

Let me know how you’re doing, how your project is going, if there’s anything I can do to support your efforts.

All the best,

Dean

Okay, Joan, this is getting interesting. Went back to the Little Library with a book to swap for The Mouse and the Motorcycle. It was gone already. Glanced through the spines and the thing that caught my eye because I couldn’t read the spine, it was too dark, was this guy’s book.

This is so funny.

My daughter came down from the city and before we went to see Ingrid Goes West (holy trainwreck, Batman) we discussed her children’s story. The protag is a mouse. It’s a story she first thought about when she was about 8-years old. Now she wants to write it. We talked about how to do that. One thing I told her was to read a lot of children’s books.

Fast forward. I always check that little library and have put copies of the fresh cuts short story anthologies in there. It was dark. I was excited to see Ender’s Game and took the picture (being medium tall, I had to crouch a bit) and continued on the walk.

When I saw the picture later, I noticed the Mouse and Motorcycle book and vowed to get it. There’s a couple others in there that look good, too. I need to return a couple for the quid pro quo.

I am UTTERLY FLABBERGASTED that you did not borrow The Mouse and the Motorcycle from the little library. It’s a Must Read.

Sunday night, 81 days left

Had a hangout with my writing’s group and development editor (dev ed).

Real productive session on how to approach the shift from a graphic POV depiction to prose in Murder Happens. And a few other exciting twists to the story that would be foolhardy of me to share.

It’s been over a year since I put the project down and moved to the another. Buoyed to take on the story again. Reading through the manuscript, excited by the words that are both fresh and familiar.

After the call, went on a short neighborhood walk. We have Little Libraries around town and there’s a one a couple blocks away.

I’ve found some gems in there. Left a few too. Tonight I opened the doors and found a classic sci-fi .

My heart skipped a beat. I remember reading Orson Scott Card’s story in one sitting. Couldn’t put it down. Left it for someone else to discover.

Anyone else working on an exciting project?

This little note was typed into the discussion portion not realizing I wasn’t spamming...check that...sending out an important content update...so I copied and pasted because I know you are all hanging on every word I type...Ah shit, I just snorted coffee all over my big ol’ iMac...

Day 5. 6th place in the Horror contest. OMG! Thank you all so much.

Now go tell your friends and family. Seriously, NOW!

Because I did something stupid. I started reading my neighbor’s stories. Damn, they’re good. I’m tempted to back them. That would be even stupider. Right? And in the bigger picture, we’re all in this together to hit the numbers to get a deal.

It’s not like a reader is going to read one book and never read another in their life. More like one good book will whet their appetite. Mine could be a snack, or maybe even an appetizer. 6th place, that’s definitely an appetizer.

Still, what would it be like to be the entre?

I should wrap this up and take a look at the next chapter, trim the fat and post it. Hope it’s about food. I wrote myself hungry here.

Just checked the manuscript, chapter four is about food. Chapter three has the origin of the book’s title.

If you’ve read the previous chapter’s posted here, you’ve met Dr. Karl, his wife, her dog he refuses to call by name, and Dr. Karl’s patient Bob. Margo is introduced in chapter three. You might like her. I do.

Question for you writers: Do you have difficulty killing your favorite characters?

Hey!
Relax, not going to ask for more money. In fact, to show appreciation, I’m going to offer you a small gift: A Kindle version of GLAMS vs. RED PLAIDS which I published on Amazon the same day I joined Inkshares at the urging of my editor, Joan. Also, go follow GLAM, too, because there’s a party over there as well, and just because. That book is in draft mode.

Shoot me a note if you want the Kindle. Be great if you read it and wrote a review on Amazon. No pressure, though.

When I originally wrote this manuscript, there was a lot of music propelling me along and the songs somehow became woven into the story. Have to be careful with that, which is why chapter one, originally titled, If I had a hammer... became If I had a crow bar. It still works okay, and doesn’t infringe on any copyrights. I always figured the time would come when I’d have to edit the music out or get permission to quote the lyrics.

Hello My Loves!
Thank you so much for your support. Big changes to the 1st chapter posted to deal with a few issues. If you haven’t read it, start there, because the 2nd chapter is posted as well, and it’s best to follow the linear progression.

A few more chapters coming soon...
