So, the manuscript for Murder Happens was submitted about 4-weeks ago and they have a 2-month turn before reading for the first assessment. If readers and/or authors are interested in learning more about the process, try following Murder Happens. No obligation and once the dev edits come back, I’ll be posting more discussion-worthy updates.
Quick update.
The manuscript for Murder Happens is ready to submit into the Inkshares queue soon as the questionnaire and creative brief are complete. Got a couple beta readers lined up, so things are progressing toward a finished book
Wanted to share a couple Mothra’s Day specials of fine reading on your Kindle. If you haven’t tried Joan Reginaldo’s Take Your Daughter to Work Day, here’s your chance to get the 1st story in the series FREE this weekend.
Take Your Daughter to Work Day, a sci-fi Arthurian fantasy hybrid.
As well as her chilling tale of a mother who has lost her skin to a skin thief:
Dean
It has been five months since Murder Happens snatched first place in the final minutes from The Vampire and the Dragon in the 2017 Inkshares Horror Contest.
And now I feel compelled to post an update to all you wonderful supporters who I cajoled, bribed, threatened, blackmailed, extorted and wooed into supporting my book with a pre-order.
Why now?
Because the next finish line is very close and soon I will let go of the manuscript that is haunting my life.
I am not a fast writer but I have attended to the story every day and sometimes it makes me laugh and I am amazed at the words I read and often times I worry that it is a big heaping pile of crap.
The usual stuff.
A couple more passes through the draft and then I will review the Inkshares submission documents and send it off after my fellow Black Hats Writers Group editor reviews it and picks out the darlings I must kill.
Once submitted, I will take a break from writing although I do have another project posted on Inkshares. Better to use the time to create a marketing plan and begin executing it.
Because executing is fun.

Coming for you and those illustrated panels.
That’s why it’s called a deadline.
Valentine’s Day is right around the bend. It’s a special holiday with all the blood red colors and the raw beating hearts freshly pulled from the newly dead...not as fun as Halloween, but certainly a day for lovers. Of murder.
So give your lover chills for Valentine’s Day by gifting them these anthologies of delectable horror stories from Dean Fearce and his Black Hat Writers Group cohorts.

In other news, Murder is Happening! (See what I did there?) The manuscript for Murder Happens is progressing well. I’ve been meeting my weekly numbers to have it finished this spring. Whether that would put the book in your hands this year or not is hard to say, but wouldn’t that be great? I think so.
I’m BACK!
It’s been a month and you probably enjoyed the quiet time, but wanted to let you know things are progressing well with Murder Happens. Gave myself a 4-month deadline, now one-month into it since the contest ended, and got a solid 40K done in that time. It’s all revisions, rewrites and new material. When draft two is done, will hand it off to Joan the Editor before putting it into the queue for the Inkshares dev/editing process.
Joan has another freebie for your kindle. The Dolls is my favorite horror short of hers. It’s really creepy. We tried to have it for Halloween, but some kind of crazy life thing happened.
Mike and I are still together, btw. It was tough, but he forgave me for that last minute pre-order that jumped MRDR HPPNS into 1st place…one ahead of The Vampire and the Dragon. He’s been sharing the plot premise of the trilogy which is a complete spoiler for me, but they’re going to be awesome for the rest of you. Guess that’s my payback.
Check out @deanfearce or my Facebook for the hell of it.
Wanted to share current events with my beautiful supporters regarding the project. The Dev Letter came with astute guidance on how to improve, basically, everything, and a few issues that needed to be addressed.
I’ve since outlined my proposed changes, sent them back, and have gotten the green light to proceed to draft #2 of the manuscript.
You may notice I’m not calling it Murder Happens. Been exploring other titles per the editor’s suggestion. Right now, Mine is making a lot of sense to me.
Very excited by how the story is evolving, and enjoying this writing, polishing stage.
Thank you all for this opportunity. I appreciate it so much. And if you haven’t pre-ordered, consider it now while the price is right.

Also, wanted to mention Tonya Mitchell’s story, A Feigned Madness. I greatly enjoy historical fiction and the premise of Nellie Bly’s story is so juicy. Funding now, check it out:
